What you’ll be doing...

Director Transaction Tax Wireline Audits is responsible for managing the day to day operations of the audit team, the audit inventory and the associated reserves. This position also partners with the Transaction Tax Reporting Group and the Research and Planning Group on all technical matters to ensure that all deliverables are met. The ideal candidate should have a significant amount of audit, transaction tax and leadership experience. The candidate should demonstrate the ability to work in and the ability to build high performing teams. The ideal candidate should be knowledgeable or have had experience in the various types and areas of transaction taxes and more specifically transaction taxes imposed upon telecommunications companies, products and services. A strong knowledge of accounting is necessary and specifically an understanding for accounting for transaction taxes in accordance with FAS 5 is critical. Additionally, the candidate should possess strong leadership, analytical and communication skills.

  • Responsible for directing a team to ensure that all Wireline transaction tax audits are proactively managed and accurately and timely resolved.
  • Responsible for driving the tax department goals across the Wireline Transaction Tax Audit Team. Specifically, improving TOTI, cash flow and SOX.
  • Responsible for calculating, establishing and monitoring FAS 5 Reserves for Contingent Gains and Losses. Strong tax planning and technical tax and research skills required to review and evaluate tax positions and FAS 5 requirements.
  • Required to exercise professional judgment in evaluating and communicating potential tax exposure items to Senior Tax Management.
  • Responsible for teaming and partnering with the Transaction Tax Compliance, Planning and other tax teams in order to meet the goals of the tax department
  • Responsible for mentoring and developing staff to increase the productivity and efficiency of the department. Providing leadership and mentoring toward career goals is essential.

What we’re looking for...

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and CPA required.
  • Advanced degreein Taxation highly desired.
  • Experience as an auditor for a taxing authority, experience in the transaction tax field in Big 4 public accounting firms and/or Fortune 500 corporate tax departments is highly desired
  • 10+ years of tax experience with an emphasis on transaction tax with a focus on audit controversy is required.
  • Strong background handling and negotiating the closures of audits is critical.
  • Strong understanding of accounting and specifically FAS 5 is required.
  • Strong tax technical, research and analytical skills are required.
  • Strong leadership skills and a proven history of experience in successfully managing multiple teams and multiple projects are required.
  • Practical experience in leading teams of tax professionals including specifically delegating technical projects, motivating teams, communicating technical and administrative issues, mentoring, and developing employees.
  • Must be highly motivated and have the ability to work with little to no supervision.
  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills to partner effectively across the Tax organization as well as presentation skills and the ability to present toSenior Management.
