What you’ll be doing...

The Technology organization is searching for a Manager to lead Big Data, Artificial Intelligence and other Innovation Forum initiatives. The manager will be responsible for developing and accelerating Artificial Intelligence initiatives by leading cross functional teams including Oath, IT, Product, Engineering, and Planning. In this role, the Manager will act as a key contributor and facilitator to identify opportunities leveraging technological investments and expertise across the technology organization as well as driving strategic cross functional roadmaps and ecosystems for the SVP.

The Manager must demonstrate deep, thoughtful understanding of the Verizon’s network technological strategy, as well as competitive trends and business drivers. The Manager will partner with VPs and Directors to share information, collaborate, define new opportunities, and leverage technology expertise in data analytics, data science, artificial intelligence, and machine learning to solve business challenges. Additionally, in this role the Manager will coordinate all activities to research and assess new opportunities so that strategy and roadmaps are stitched together and aligned to effectively carry out the company's overall goals.

The position requires an individual with experience in Network, IT, or experience with Software Defined Networks, Cloud, Internet of Things (IoT), and Big Data AI/ML. The Manager should also possess strong interpersonal skills, project management skills, and the ability to work effectively across other organizations. The position is highly visible and requires frequent interaction with VPs and Directors across the Technology and partnering organizations.

The Manager, with support from the Exec Director/Director, will oversee new initiatives, develop key action plans, identify milestones and deliverables. The manager will also provide status on the action plans and deliverables in the form of Innovation Forum briefings.

The position focuses on:

  • Supporting Innovation Forum sub teams including CIO/SVP, VP and Director cross organizational teams.
  • Working across the organization to define opportunities to leverage technology investments and create shareholder value in Big Data AI/ML, including opportunities between Oath and Verizon.
  • Delivering concise, compelling, data driven business recommendations on where and how modified business decisions could lead to improved business performance.
  • Demonstrating strong leadership and communication skills and ability to communicate with employees at all levels of the organization. Leads and develops teams of direct/indirect reports.
  • Managing Innovation Forums for Big Data AI and other key initiatives to be identified by senior leadership

The ideal candidate will have the acumen to handle complex situations and multiple responsibilities. This role requires high engagement, ability to build collaboration, and attention detail to connect the dots and ensure key business deliverables are met. The candidate must possess strong analytical skills and be able to interpret data and provide recommendations to the leadership team.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or related technical field; ideally your MBA.
  • 8 or more years of experience in a relevant technical organization performing planning, development and/or program management.
  • Demonstration of strong technical skills.
  • Demonstration of strong leadership skills.
  • Demonstration of strong partnership and collaboration skills.
  • Demonstration of strong program management skills.
  • Demonstration of strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with specific experience presenting information to executive leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to package and sell ideas and influence across all levels of management and across organizations.
  • Proven ability to drive results and actions for continued improvement in meeting business deliverables, IT processes, and program management.
  • Ability to own issues/decisions and manage on an ongoing basis.
  • Ability to create action plans that lead to resolutions.
  • Ability to identify opportunities to streamline processes and create efficiencies.
