What you’ll be doing...

SDN Planning team under Verizon Network Technology and Planning organization is looking for a self-motivated and innovative thinking technical leader for Verizon SDN WAN solutions development and deployment in support of Intelligent Edge Network (IEN). As a manager, you will be managing a small but highly technical engineering team. The team will be responsible for developing Base Network Controller (BNC) platform solution in support of Verizon’s IEN deployment. BNC provides network service abstraction and network hardware abstraction services for IEN OSS layer. You will lead to develop, evaluate and validate SDN ecosystem solutions in support of Verizon control and management plane platform deployment. Responsibilities include:

  • Lead and manage members of technical staffs.
  • End to end system integration, validation and testing.
  • Software Defined Networking (SDN) ecosystem development and vendor technical management.
  • BNC platform North and South Bound Interfaces (NBI/SBI) development.
  • BNC use cases development in support of Verizon IEN.
  • OSS integration and interface development.
  • Participate in open-source and open standard industry collaboration activities.
  • Open API development in support of Verizon SDN WAN platform infrastructure.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Leadership experience.
  • Data communication industry experience.
  • Network (WAN/LAN) Engineering (Layer 0/1/2/3) experience in Service Provider Network or Large Enterprise Network environment.
  • Knowledge of SDN ecosystem landscape.

Even better if you have:

  • MS or PhD degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering with modern data communication technology discipline.
  • 4+ years of technical leadership and people management experience.
  • 5+ years of data communication industry experience.
  • In-depth knowledge in both Packet and Optical network technologies.
  • Industry technology leadership skill.
  • Understanding of Layer-0/1 Network Transport Technology.
  • Understanding of SDN architecture and technology (control plane, data plane, management plane, orchestration).
  • Network or system software development experience.
  • Multi-vendor system integration experience.
  • Exposure to open source based tools development, implementation, and collaboration experience.
  • SDN/NFV driven open source project and open standard experience (ODL, ONOS, ONAP, ONL, KVM, OpenStack, Kubernetes, ONL, VM/Docker-Container, BBF, MEF, ETSI, IETF).
  • Open networking, open API (REST/RESTCONF), and open platform development experience.
  • Cloud computing experience.
  • Information and data modelling and policy driven network design experience.
  • Network telemetry and configuration management technology experience (NetConf/YANG, OF-Config, OpenConfig, gRPC/Protobuf).
