What you’ll be doing...

The Wireless Business Intelligence Director will work collaboratively with the Wireless FP&A and Operations teams to perform descriptive and diagnostic analytics to support growth and profitability for the wireless business unit. Specifically, this Director will work with the wireless teams to develop dashboards and analyze various tactical and strategic business initiatives. This will include the development of the financial and statistical models, tools and the corresponding assumptions which will be used to evaluate the performance of the initiatives along with establishing the appropriate tracking infrastructure and post-mortem analysis and feedback. As part of these responsibilities, the Director will employ Digital Finance techniques and tools.

This Director will lead a team of Finance professionals and will be responsible for staff engagement, motivation and morale; development of direct reports and overall team growth (mentoring and coaching) and will provide timely feedback, guidance and training to help attain departmental goals.


Perform descriptive and diagnostic analytics to support growth and profitability for the wireless business unit utilizing Digital Finance tools, balance sheet and income statement evaluation, cost/benefit analysis and NPV modeling.

  • Develops financial and statistical models, tools and corresponding assumptions used to evaluate the performance of tactical and strategic initiatives.
  • Supports the financial analysis requirements of the Markets and Headquarter departments including Marketing, Network, Business Planning, IT and Customer Service.
  • Analyzes the performance of new and existing products and services through the development of advanced dash-boarding and analytical models.
  • Prepares financial presentation materials and formal business case documents for use with senior management.
  • Works collaboratively across functions (Marketing, IT, RA, etc. as appropriate) to enable implementation; identifying or facilitating the identification of control gaps in methods and procedures.
  • Partners with internal stakeholders to develop and maintain definitions, and ensure consistent use of standardized metrics and KPIs across the Enterprise.
  • Ensures timely and accurate delivery of data to the Verizon legal department as needed. Defend the accuracy and interpretation of this data in depositions and court proceedings as needed
  • Lead the implementation of automated delivery of reporting for the Wireless Business unit.
  • Implements effective post-mortem evaluation process.

What we’re looking for...

  • 10+ years of proven financial experience, ideally in the wireless industry, in either Data Analytics, Financial Planning & Analysis and/or Accounting.
  • BS/BA:Finance, Analytics, Mathematics or Related Field;Computer Science, MIS, IT, Software Engineering or related field.
  • MBA/CPA; Certification in Business Intelligence and/or Analytics preferred.
  • Strategic thinking, leadership and the ability to direct cross functional teams to completion of strategic financial objectives,
  • Exceptional leadership skills, extensive management experience and the ability to meet aggressive deadlines, manage multiple complex projects and locations simultaneously and to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, individual and team-oriented work environment
  • Proven leadership ability and knowledge of wireless industry trends and key business drivers required
  • Demonstrated exceptional interpersonal, relationship development, analytical, problem-solving and communication skills with the ability to present at the senior most level in the business
  • Ability to evaluate and interpret how changes in the industry impact Verizon Wireless strategy and financial projections
  • Advanced analytical and financial modeling skills
  • Digital finance competencies, including programming and statistical analysis
  • Ability to maintain strong relations with Cross-Functional Teams, Area teams, an External Partners
  • Superior organizational, communication, negotiation, attention to detail, staff development and operations skills are required
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with Senior leadership
  • Motivated, self-starter and highly collaborative, able to produce high quality results in high pressure situations in a dynamic environment
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities, able to engage and influence team and external partners
  • Technical acumen to interpret business implications
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Effective use of PC including Microsoft Office required
  • Exceptional communicational skills required. Need to effectively communicate with all levels of Management
  • Ability to travel when needed.
