What you’ll be doing...

Responsible for execution of a comprehensive shrink management program designed to reduce shrink exposure for the retail stores within the assigned Market. This is accomplished through proactive investigation, improvement of operational controls, store visits, and awareness training.

  • Investigate cases of retail fraud including cash thefts, inventory thefts, bogus refunds, and bogus credit card transactions throughout assigned VZW Market with approximately 300 locations. Investigate burglaries of VZW locations in assigned Market. Prepare detailed and comprehensive investigative reports for VZW Human Resources, VZW retail management, and law enforcement that may be used for employee disciplinary action up to and including termination as well as possible criminal prosecution. Conduct store visits to ensure all aspects of retail security/loss prevention are functioning as intended. Provide guidance to VZW retail employees, Managers, District Managers, Directors and business leaders on proper internal controls in order to safeguard retail company assets.
  • Develop and present focused retail security/loss prevention awareness presentations for Retail store employees including the topics of: Loss Prevention practices, recognizing and diffusing customers, physical security and data integrity.
  • Evaluate operational controls with the field and store management to resolve operational deficiencies including such topics as cash handling, deposit preparation, opening & closing procedures, improving store safety and creating efficiencies by reducing store personnel’s involvement in fraudulent transaction research.
  • Conduct regular store visits within VZW assigned Market to better evaluate physical and electronic security standards for VZW retail locations. Identify best practices for improved safety and security of VZW employees and company assets.
  • Develop professional relationships with local, state, and federal law enforcement and retail associations on retail crime trends and organized retail crime prevention for assigned VZW retail locations. Interface with the National Retail Federation and other relevant organizations to ensure VZW is adequately addressing evolving issues in its retail environment. Assist in the development of focused crime prevention solutions and responses for VZW retail locations. Respond to emergency and loss prevention-related situations when needed (24 x 7).

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.

  • Two or more year loss prevention experience with regional responsibilities of multiple stores.

  • Experience in Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.

  • Strong investigative skills.

  • CFI, CFE, CPP, LPQ, or LPC qualification.

  • Strong interviewing skills. Reid or Wicklander/Zulawski interview training.

  • Thorough understanding of retail operations, inventory control reconciliation, current LP technological applications.

  • Ability to execute strategic plans, practices and procedures to reduce and control store financial losses with a clear direction that can set and meet goals to maximize team performance.

  • Effectively partners with store, district, and executive management to achieve identified goals and maintains strong partnerships with all teams.

  • Strong organizational, problem solving, and analytical skills.

  • Ability to work and produce effective results in a fast paced and ever changing environment.

  • Effectively handle multiple projects meeting deadlines.

  • Strong time management, written and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written skills including detailed investigative report writing and a demonstrated capability to speak in front of large groups.

  • Ability to support and demonstrate VZW values and culture.
