The Connected Car services team is responsible for developing the platform and the API that helps our customers connect to their vehicle and manage it remotely. For example, remote start, heat or cool, lock, unlock, geo locate, etc. Or get real-time speed alerts, geo-fence alerts, vehicle diagnostics, etc.

As we expand our product offerings and take on more customers we are embarking on an exciting journey to transform our technology stack to support an open source platform to meet the scale and resiliency needs.
We are looking for an outstanding Software Developer to help tackle the exciting technical opportunities ahead. This is an opportunity to develop high-profile elements of the Connect Car architecture, build systems at scale, leverage open source and cloud technologies, and seek challenging and business-impacting projects for the team to tackle.

As a part of our core team:

  • You will own an entire section of our technical stack by taking projects from an idea to production
  • You can leave your mark on many different initiatives which will impact both the technology and business.
  • You will implement various new technologies that will determine the shape of the platform (i.e. Common Device Gateway Platform).
  • You will teach the team and collaborate with them about innovative new technologies and concepts.
  • You should have passion for writing beautiful code to wow your peers and relentless pursuit of ‘perfection’

You will be an excellent generalist who is skilled at multitasking and performs a number of duties, including, but not limited to:

  • Designing highly secure and scalable microservices to communicate with vehicles leveraging various device protocols in a cloud native environment
  • Integrating with testing, coverage and deployment pipelines.
  • Designing SQL database schemas (both RDBMS and NoSQL), as well as managing backups and migrations.
  • Optimizing the performance of the services by analyzing and profiling the services

What we’re looking for...

  • 5+ years of experiences of core Java and JVM
  • 2+ years of experiences of core Spring project
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in designing and building complex, highly scalable, high volume, low latency microservices with Spring Boot/cloud and Netflix OSS suite
  • 3+ years of experiences in creation and consumption of REST (and SOAP) based web services
  • 2+ years of working knowledge on microservices design patterns, service registry and discovery,
  • 2+ years of working knowledge on container technology (preferably Docker) based deployment in cloud environment
  • 2+ years of experiences of TDD methodology with on-hands experiences in test automation with leading testing frameworks (i.e. Junit, Mockito)
  • 2+ years of experiences in working in the automated CI/CD environment/pipelines
  • Good understanding of 12 factor app and Domain Driven Design
  • 1+ year of working knowledge on Kafka (or other distributed stream processing products), Cassandra (or other NoSQL) DB
  • 1+ year of working knowledge in cloud based platform (Preferably AWS)
  • 1+ year of working knowledge in troubleshooting JVM performance issues
  • 1+ year of working knowledge in Atlassian tools (i.e. Jira/Confluence and Bitbucket)
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced agile (scrum/Kanban) based delivery environment
  • General understanding of security protocols
  • Knowledge of APM (i.e. AppDynamics, Splunk) tool for performance tracking and distributed logging
  • BS/MS in Computer Science (or equivalent)
