What you’ll be doing...

As our IOF Planner, you will be responsible to design, build and manage all Inter-Office Facilities (IOF) capacity within an assigned HUB area. You will be responsible for the capacity management of all transport systems within all assigned CO’s to include multiplexers, digital cross-connects (DCS), coax spans, copper spans, intra-building fiber cables and IOF fibers. You will be heavily involved in advancing the deployment of the Intelligent Edge Network (iEN) which will involve learning new technologies and systems. A quick ability to grasp highly technical equipment and turn that knowledge into action is a must for job applicants. The IOF planner must take the IOF LATA planner’s plan and input from the various provisioning systems to create capacity to carry all service requirements between assigned CO’s. The IOF planner must use these inputs to issue CCR’s and build CLO’s to meet the service requirements.

The IOF planner requires a strong working knowledge of the TIRKS database system as well as have strong Microsoft Excel and Word capabilities. The IOF planner should be familiar with the Verizon RequestNet, AccORD, BAAIS, and BERT provisioning systems. The IOF planner must learn to build and use SONET networks on NGADM from OC03, OC12, OC48, OC192 to OC768 to provision DS1, DS3, OCn and Ethernet services over the IOF network. The IOF planner must learn to design, build and utilize OTN facilities to carry native Ethernet and OCn services over ROADM and DWDM networks. The IOF planner must manage IOF fiber and intra-office fiber TIE capacity to build facilities for all these systems. Finally, the IOF planner must understand and be able to utilize DCS for DS0, DS1 and DS3 paths between network elements.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or related field, or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • Capital management experience with budgeting and accounting.
  • Knowledge of fiber optic technology and network equipment.
  • Experience with Verizon Provisioning systems as well as equipment ordering systems.
  • Additional systems expertise including FIM, Microsoft Excel / Access.
  • Experience in HiCap Engineering.
