Verizon's Yahoo Small Business (YSB) team provides services and platforms that enable small medium business to succeed. Our core offering includes actionable live web insights, application/developer platform, real time traffic tracking and analytics, recommendation, provisioning management, subscription/billing management, merchant solution, domain management, local listing. These are the some of the important functions that allow business owner to gain insights and take action to grow their business. Responsibilities include:

  • Recruit, develop, and lead engineers, architects, and managers.
  • Create an environment where people are able to reach their full potential.
  • Play a hands-on role in software definition, architecture, design, and implementation.
  • Champion modern software architectures, methodologies, technologies, and practices.
  • Build products that become a daily habit for millions of users, partners, and merchants.
  • Collaborate with and learn from designers, product managers, engineers, and executives.
  • Drive growth in audience, engagement, and revenue globally.

Sample Projects Include:

  • Pitch a new investment, build a team, and help Verizon's Yahoo Small Business team invent the future and grow.
  • Guide the refactoring or re-implementation of software using modern technology.
  • Build a prototype that demonstrates a new software pattern or product.
  • Lead a high-impact project that cuts across product and organizational boundaries.
  • Help engineers develop their careers, assign them to projects according to their skills and bring them to their next level.

What we’re looking for...

You are self-driven with hands-on experience in design and implementation of complex and distributed system, particularly in building high performance backend and/or frontend framework. You have passion for seeking engineering excellence and adopting new technologies. You are not afraid to drive for success by working with cross-functional teams. You have demonstrated experience in managing projects and detail-oriented, effective in written and interpersonal communication, analytical, and comfortable operating under tight deadlines. You’ve had success with prompting company and organization culture, and building effective engineering teams.

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree in Computer Science or a closely related field.
  • Expertise in recruiting, developing, and leading.
  • Expertise in leading teams to create long-term business value quickly and iteratively.
  • Ability to navigate large organizations, develop relationships, and build personal networks.
  • Capability to communicate ideas, make and influence decisions, and inspire others.
  • Expertise in JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, Java, C++.
  • Expertise in cloud, database, and big data technologies (desired).
  • Expertise in machine learning, natural language processing, or related field (desired).
  • Expertise in creating high-performance, high-quality, reusable software at scale (desired).
  • Expertise in data-informed and test-driven software development practices (desired).
  • Commitment to continuous learning and self-development.
  • Ability to work well on a team.
