We have an immediate need for a Manager, Network Operations. This role leads a team of IT professionals responsible for the design, management and implementation of critical business-facing networks and telephony systems. The role requires knowledge of enterprise networking technologies and related industry leading solutions along with strong leadership, troubleshooting, critical thinking and analytical skills.


  • Provide vision, communication, development and leadership to a team of IT professionals
  • Supervise a team responsible for design, implementation and management of a wide range of network technologies specified below
  • Set goals, establish/communicate strategy, maintain accountability, inspire and motivate and establish/monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for a team of IT professionals
  • Manage, design and develop scalable, maintainable, highly available network architectures to meet business objectives and SLAs
  • Identify, diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software and connectivity issues reported by the business
  • Coordinate and work together with other members of technology staff on multiple concurrent cross-functional initiatives and projects
  • Manage all aspects of Verizon Telematics network, including switching, routing, firewall administration, and the enforcement of security policies, standards guidelines and procedures
  • Proactivity and continuously monitor the health of all Verizon Telematics networks (LAN/WLAN/WAN/VPN/MPLS), security devices, power sources, Telco gear, DIA, voice circuits, bandwidth utilization, physical and virtual appliances as well as all supporting infrastructure to ensure continuous and uninterrupted availability of resources critical to the operational needs of the business.
  • Participate in conducting vulnerability testing, penetration analyses and security audits of network perimeter and internal network to ensure the availability, confidentiality and integrity of all Verizon Telematics internal and external services.
  • Respond rapidly to system outages, alerts and or any interruption in system services globally on an as needed basis to maintain the highest level of availability possible. SLA / Uptime > 99%)
  • Responsible for the acquisition, configuration, implementation, administration and capacity planning of all Infrastructure components within our global footprint
  • Monitor network performance, application protocol usage and traffic patterns to ensure a predictable level of network performance
  • Assist in the procurement and delivery of new Internet and voice circuits both in the EU and abroad

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • The individual should have 7+ years’ experience in a security operations or networking role
  • Strong knowledge of the principles of implementation and operation and experience with security technology such as firewalls, multi-level security implementation, security assessments, monitoring, and profiling tools (e.g., IDS/IPS, SEIM, WAF, FIM, etc)
  • Ability to plan and manage projects
  • Ability to solve complex problems by applying best practices
  • Ability to provide direction and mentor less experienced teammates
  • Strong working knowledge of Security Incident Management processes
  • The position requires that the individual have a sense of urgency to address new technologies being deployed
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • BS or advanced degree in computer science or related discipline preferred

Even better if you have:

  • Strong knowledge of threats and vulnerabilities associated with application and network security
  • Understanding of current, popular attack vectors including phishing, drive-by downloads, exploit kits, and server exploitation
  • Strong knowledge of Linux, UNIX, Windows, and Apple
  • Ability to create and maintain technical documentation
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in an ambiguous environment
  • 2-4 years experience managing or leading a team of security operations analysts/engineers
  • Experience working in a global security operations role
  • Understanding and experience in application and network security assessment methodologies, tools, and techniques
  • Experience in implementing or operating global end-point security products (anti-virus, anti-malware, hard drive encryption, DLP, etc…)
  • Computer Forensics a plus; and security automation
  • CISSP, SANS, and other security related certifications a plus
  • Experience with cloud security is a plus
