We are currently hiring for an Installation and Repair Field Technician in our network operations team in France-Marseille.

As an Installation and Repair Field Technician you will:

About the department

To provide technical support and installation services to Verizon customers and internal groups within Verizon Network and Customer’s premises. Manage daily Operations activities including circuit provisioning and fault repairs.


  1. Performs all installation and maintenance activities in accordance with operational procedures. Undertake the maintenance of equipment (CPE and network equipment) used throughout the Verizon network and customer facilities.
  2. Performs the testing and turn up of service with all involved providers until the customer’s service is up and working with the use of relevant testers and raised any issues on PTT tails or transmission/technical part to France Software team. Works with Central Teams to confirm customer service is working fine.
  3. Provides on-site technical support in Verizon sites and to customers where applicable and provide technical support and remote hands to Verizon maintenance centers for card replacement, fault isolation and maintenance activities with support of Central Groups in charge of trouble tickets resolution.
  4. Performs testing, diagnostic and periodic maintenance / routines procedures on Facility infrastructure equipment according to published equipment standards and supports all 3rd Parties / subcontractors for this purpose. Perform also monthly Generator Run as defined.
  5. Direct and supervise all external contractors performing installations and repair services.
  6. Work on customer and network projects on guidance and supervision of experienced Ops peer or Implementation engineering.
  7. Manage “DR-DICT” (Call before you dig) to avoid cable cut issues on Verizon network.
  8. Perform the role of LORC (Local Operations resource Center) dispatcher and organize dispatches and schedule of other Field Ops engineers.
  9. Perform repair / maintenance / patching of Submarine cable activities
  10. Performs maintenance tasks (Bi-Monthly Routines) on Pan European Network (PEN) fibre-optic cable infrastructure and at remote backbone sites (Cabins) according to the provided Work Instructions (ISO 9001 certified).
  11. Performs visual and level 1 maintenance checks of HVAC systems, AC/DC plants, Diesel Generators and general housekeeping routines (internal & external) and completes the required documentation
  12. Performs fibre-optic cable testing: ILM and OTDR measurements and analyzing results

What we’re looking for...

Must have

  • Flexibility to work in a 24/7 on-call rotation
  • Minimum of 3 year’s recognized hands on technical experience in the telecommunications industry
  • Working knowledge of SDH, frame relay, ATM, transmission, DACCS, multiplexer and router
  • Working knowledge of fiber optic transmission systems
  • Working knowledge on Ethernet access and network devices
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • General knowledge on technical Facilities equipment (chillers, HVAC, diesel generators, DC plants)
  • Good customer communication skills
  • Fluent in French and basic English (written and verbal)

Good to have

  • Technician degree or equivalent
  • Cisco certified CCNA
  • Knowledge on IP services
  • General knowledge of Verizon ULH/TA-Mesh/CPA platforms
  • Knowledge of Verizon product portfolio including next generation services
  • General knowledge on WLAN,SDN equipment
