The Verizon Connect Learning & Development team creates learning experiences to enable our product, sales, and customer service team members to deliver their best work. Your past success demonstrates that you are staying up with current L&D trends. You use agile development techniques to respond to the needs of the business with quality training. You quickly build rapport with stakeholders and roll up your sleeves to learn the business you’re supporting.


  • Engage with various internal and external stakeholders to fully discover the training need, relevance and importance of training impact. Actively participate in user acceptance of courseware when complete
  • Engage with customers to define training needs and training gaps. Conduct the detailed analysis of audience, task, and needs assessment of requested training
  • Develop training material using a range of development modalities, including mobile content, eLearning, video, classroom, live virtual deliveries, self-paced, reinforcement activities, and job aids/performance support
  • Actively participate in internal processes and collaborate with teams to ensure adequate translation of subject matter to learning material
  • Evaluate training programs and training effectiveness; track and improve efficacy
  • Design and develop highly-effective training content, with a focus on eLearning and blended learning, as well as user guides and Knowledge base content
  • Apply creativity to design new and redesign historic training modules and programs
  • Design, develop, and maintain all necessary training elements (e.g. strategic roadmap, tactical plans, leader guides, student courseware, training documentation, examinations) for all courses
  • Ensure that all training material follows design and development standards, adult learning principles, and regulatory requirements
  • Develop knowledge and behavioral assessments in order to assure the adoption of training
  • Proactively identify and assess current and future learning needs within the business.
  • Translate business KPI’s into learning objectives
  • Plan, organize, and implement a range of training activities that create effective, experiential learning experiences (e.g. monitored simulations, gamification, role plays, self-directed activities, and problem-solving scenarios)
  • Create interactive, multimedia presentations
  • Incorporate feedback from SME and Manager Reviews into development of learning assets
  • Review material content; create logical learning units/objects as appropriate
  • Develop instructional content to reflect an understanding of the diversity of learners or groups of learners
  • Responsible for new course setup in Learning Management System, courseware loading into our document management system, examinations into testing engine (including updates, new creations, or deletions), and access to all materials as appropriate

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in education and training design and development, with a strong emphasis in e-Learning
  • Proven ability to apply adult learning principles, theories, concepts and development technologies to make training stick
  • Experience in developing content (job aids, instructional guides, product guides, procedural steps) for internal Knowledge Management sites
  • Ability to meet aggressive timelines for deliverables, with creative solutions, accuracy, quality and attention to detail
  • Verifiable record of achievement in design, development, and deployment of successful training programs, inclusive of learning strategies, practices, and processes
  • Applied knowledge of established standards, procedures, policies and practices
  • Experience in learning software and tools (Articulate Storyline, Captivate, Adobe Pro, Camtasia, LMS systems)
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Action-oriented, with a proven track record of material business results

  • Advanced active listening skills and interpersonal savvy to attract and retain the interest of an audience
  • Experience in writing scripts for video content a plus
  • Proven track record of success in designing, developing, and delivering training for a variety of audiences using multiple delivery modalities
  • People-focused, with a demonstrated ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment
  • Ability to develop and maintain a network or resources throughout the organization to support in the training development process
  • Advanced written and oral communication skills
