What you’ll be doing...

As a UC Solution Architect in Verizon Enterprise Solutions (VES) Advanced Technology Group (ATG), you will be responsible for acting as the technical presales expert, primarily focused on engaging with clients and driving sales opportunities to closure by providing technical design and validation.

The ATG Architects are the also the primary technical liaison between product management and our Verizon UC business partners. You will be responsible for articulating and designing solutions for the latest technology and market trends and relating them to Verizon UC product features. Your goal is to ensure that our internal and external clients are equipped with the latest reference design architectures, and are following best practices.

We currently have openings in the Metropolitan area of New York City supporting Fortune 1000 clients headquartered in the Northeast.

The ideal candidate is someone who’s been designing and/or implementing UC technology for a range of enterprise customers, and would like to further enhance their skills, tenure and experience while sharing their passion for technology with others.

Functional Responsibilities:

  • Serve as pre-sales engineering and technical expert in Verizon’s IP Telephony, Unified Communications and Collaborations solutions portfolio, including associated hardware, software, licensing, professional services, and network architecture.
  • Requires in-depth working knowledge of all aspects of IP Telephony and UC&C solutions:
  • Experience with station- and/or trunk –side SIP designs including a detailed understanding of SIP Messaging and Call Flows.
  • Experience designing and engineering technical solutions containing IP-PBX components.
  • Session Border Control design.
  • Responsible for determining customer requirements, and designing hosted UC solutions leveraging cloud based architectures, such as: Unified Communications as a Service (UCCaaS).
  • Video (HD) and Telepresence design.
  • Webex collaboration suite and similar alternatives.
  • Work with the account teams as the lead IPT/UC subject matter expert to lead customer discussions, develop solutions and recommend Verizon products and services to meet customer’s business requirements.
  • Lead cross functional teams in a lead architect role.
  • Ascertain a detailed understanding of our customer’s technical requirements and the business drivers behind them.
  • Create and deliver customer facing materials, both formal and informal at various levels, including leading detailed technical discussions as well as delivering business-focused C-Level presentations.
  • Will be able to cite personal examples of successful design, installation and configurations currently deployed in customer environments.
  • Experience working with CISCO Webex teams (fSpark) & Jabber- designing solutions, encompassing Cisco collaboration suite for meetings, messaging and calling. Cisco Webex teams (Spark) Board for Room and Admin functionality. Encompassing security, compliance and analytics solution review. Leading to design validation for provisioning, management and Professional Services support.
  • Solid understanding of network design best practices convergence (QoS/CoS), routing (BGP, EIGRP) and switching (VLAN trunking, Ethernet) with focus on resiliency, availability, and latency.
  • Possess strong presentation skills, with the ability to develop, modify and deliver technical presentations to customers tailoring content to audience as appropriate – to include ROI/TCO understanding. Highly effective with Webex tools, and in person presentations.
  • Understand business drivers, and business outcomes related discussions. Is able to ascertain and understand each of the customer’s roles in a meeting – providing them with relevant information and driving the conversation. Can independently close the sale with the customer.
  • Provide real-world feedback and provide ideas and input to Product Marketing and Verizon Support organizations to improve solutions.
  • Lead Proof of Concept, validate designs from peer architects and can navigate product and marketing teams effectively.
  • Share knowledge and experience to enhance the technical capabilities of peers and build prospective opportunities.
  • Author detailed Statements of Work documenting technical work to be executed by field operations. Act as liaison between client and field operations to ensure clear understanding of how solutions are designed to work. Possess solid understanding of the competitive landscape and ability to clearly articulate the technical differentiation and value proposition of Verizon solutions
  • Tool usage to create BOMs, Estimates (CCW), SOWs, technical diagrams and other presentable materials for customers.
  • Work on 1-10 complex projects simultaneously. Responsible for reviewing/consulting on/approving 1-5 complex designs simultaneously.
  • Contribute to technical proposals and RFP responses as required.
  • Travel as necessary to meet clients in person, estimated 25% of time.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent work experience.
  • Master’s degree in engineering, computer science or business administration.
  • 5+ years of architecture experience in conceptualization, definition and development of IT and or telecom based products and service or 3+ years of experience in customer facing positions (sales, sales engineering, consulting).
  • Demonstrated exceptional communications and presentations skills, both verbal and written.
  • Current and valid industry certifications.
  • Career Certifications or Equivalent Work Experience such as:
    • Cisco Certified Design Associate/ Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCDA/CCNA).
    • Cisco Certified Network Professional/ Cisco Certified Design Professional (CCNP/CCDP).
    • Cisco Certified Voice Professional (CCVP).
    • Cisco Certified Internetworking Expert (CCIE) Either Internetworking or Voice Track.
    • Avaya Certified Solutions Specialist (ACSS).
    • Avaya Certified Specialist (ACS).
    • Avaya Certified Expert (ACE).
    • Avaya Certified Solutions Architect (ACSA).
    • SIP School Certification (SSCA).
  • SBC Certifications such as:
    • Acme Packet/Oracle.
    • SONUS/Ribbon.
  • Experience in sales or service of Fortune 500 companies.
  • Demonstrated successful project delivery within Fortune 500 companies.
  • Knowledge and design of Video Architecture (SIP).
  • Skype 4 Business/Teams, O365, experience or certification(s).
  • Understanding and working knowledge of API’s related to UC&C applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-driven and work independently.
  • Proven analytical skills with the demonstrated ability to diagnose and utilize technical information and sales data effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability complete projects to a consistently high standard.
  • Proven ability to meet personal objectives and targets whilst maintaining high standards.
  • Demonstrated adaptability skills and knowledge in rapidly changing environment.
