What you’ll be doing...

You will be responsible for the proper operation of a large group of wireless Network Elements. Our goal is to ensure the integrity of high availability network infrastructure to provide maximum performance for our customers. Duties in support of interdepartmental objectives, to include preventative and remedial maintenance, installation, optimization, building and ground upkeep, and integration of network hardware and interconnect facilities that includes the financial responsibility of reviewing services performed by vendors. Performing audits as required by local, regional, Area, Corporate or Regulatory agencies. You will work independently and participate in cross-functional projects as scheduled.

  • Perform preventative and remedial maintenance on all base station and transmitter equipment. Perform installation and optimization of same. Perform routine building and grounds maintenance and inspections. Resolve service impacting issues within allotted time based on severity.
  • Responsible for the on-site integration and activation of new service that includes macro/micro, small cells, Distributed Antenna Systems, Spidercloud, eFemtos, Repeaters, and other network facilities deployed in market. This includes performing the drive test data collection activity and post processing of the data to establish acceptable service levels.
  • Responsible to audit/verify new site and vendor installation ensuring Verizon guidelines and standards are observed. Perform site audits, site-walks, and approvals with Construction engineers, vendors, and other stake holders.
  • Responsible for reviewing and understanding the key performance metrics of all services recently activated and existing network elements including Ethernet Backhaul.
  • Analyze sites on a sector / cell site level using network tools to determine if any PIM / interference is present. Take the initial steps with the use of PIM test equipment / Spectrum analyzer to support on-site testing of the antenna system and over the air interference analysis to identify the source, Analyze network coverage to ensure contiguous communication and network integrity. Make recommendations to engineering for improving network coverage and implement.
  • Review, manage and facilitate the financial procurement of vendor services that includes PO/invoice responsibility that results in a quality product at fair costs. Ensure PO lifecycle is complete from creation to closeout.
  • Maintain inventories of test equipment, base station, and transmitters. Update daily logs with site-specific information. Compose clear and concise reports for system documentation.
  • Perform semi-annual audit of cells sites, spares, and vehicle locations. Perform scanning of serialized equipment in/out of cell site and spares warehouse.
  • Utilize OTDR, OLTS, and related test equipment to troubleshoot and test both Lit and Dark Fiber service.
  • Work with multiple internal and external groups to manage and coordinate work. Deliver customer solutions/projects as scheduled. Engage with vendors, system administrators, and network personnel to resolve issues.
  • Required to participate in on-call rotation within a specified coverage area and to work various shifts.
  • Perform these duties for in-building, small cell, and DAS equipment, Spidercloud, eFemtos, Repeaters, which often involves working in a customer-facing environment to solve complex problems independently.
  • Participate in mobile unit deployments (COW, COLT, CROW, eFemtos, Repeaters, etc).
  • Read, understand, and execute methods of procedures (MOPs) and ensure technical standards are adhered to and no adverse effects will be caused in the network.
  • Perform both hardware and software updates and/or changes to remote site equipment as necessary.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Associate’s degree or two or more years of work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications and G-suites.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Even better if you have:

  • Technical degree; ideally your Bachelor's degree.
  • CCNA certification.
  • Two or more years of experience plus electronics training in one or more of the following fields: Wireless telecommunications, IP networking, System Performance / Network Analyst.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the following technologies and/or platforms: voice cells infrastructure experience including: Nokia (Legacy CDMA Modcell, SAR 7705/7750, MPR 9500 Microwave Radios),Ericson LTE, Fujitsu Flashwave; telecom experience including: Ethernet backhaul, fiber optic testing / configuration for both Lit and Dark Fiber, computer support experience including: PC hardware and configurations, troubleshooting; and AC/DC power systems experience including: Galaxy, Lorain, Emerson, GE, DC distribution systems, and troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of the following Test Equipment: Viavi JD745B/JD785B BTS Analyzer including Interference Advisor, Viavi MTS-5800, Kaelus PIM Test Set, EXFO Ethernet/Fiber Test Set, and MultiMeter/Amp Meter.
  • Strong understanding/knowledge of LTE technologies, DAS equipment, Small Cell equipment, IP networking, Lit and Dark Fiber, Microwave Transport, and VoLTE.
  • Familiarity with Dark Fiber and CRAN concepts, architecture, and Operations.
