What you’ll be doing...

Our wireline networks and application systems comprise the backbone of the services we provide, and all of these components produce huge amounts of data every day. Customers expect fast and reliable service and that’s where you come in. The work you’ll be doing will help predict and prevent customer impacting events and improve application system performance and most importantly our customer’s experience.

  • You will develop analytics using multiple data sources to identify issues and further optimize the various application systems.
  • You will analyze data and key performance indicators (KPIs) for strategic wireline applications to predict and prevent customer impacting events.
  • You will create mechanisms used by NOCs and Tier 1 teams to alert system performance issues by validating and testing complex analytic formulas.
  • You will monitor application system performance and discover and report on performance issues.
  • You will support project teams and other technical teams as a technical leader and advisor.

What we’re looking for...

The science of analytics with an eye towards testing, reliability, predictability and improving performance is attractive to you. Working independently to resolve complex problems which impact customers is an area that you find enjoyable. You’re great at troubleshooting and solving problems that require the integration of lots of data.

You demonstrate independent thinking and a creative mindset with the ability to leverage automation to eliminate manual processes and provide near real-time visibility into system health and performance.

You have the ability to identify deficiencies and quickly develop a solution in a DevOps manner to help improve the reliability and add operational efficiencies in the network.

You’ll need to you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems Management, or four or more years of related work experience.
  • Experience with operating systems to include Windows Server, Linux RedHat,etc.
  • Experience with automation tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
  • Ability to lead and drive projects to completion.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Even better if you have:

  • Open Stack Certification
  • Proficiency in one or more scripting languages (Perl, Python, Shell, Ruby).
  • Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP networking, load balancing, firewalls, HTTP, SSL, DNS, DHCP.
  • Experience with network protocols such as SIP/VOIP, SS7
  • Experience with high speed data network architectures and elements.
  • Experience with analytical tools such as Splunk and Wireshark.
  • Experience with SDN/NFV.
