What you’ll be doing...

You’ll handle project management as a Construction Engineer on the Cell Implementation Modification team in a dynamic, fast-paced office environment with some travel and outside work at cell sites.

  • Providing project management and supervision of construction activities for multiple Network upgrade projects including: AWS adds, LTE over PCS, LTE over 850 MHZ, RRH installs, RET installs, hybrid cable installs, antenna modifications, LAA/CBRS adds, 5G adds, CDMA adds, sectorization, generator upgrades and adds, power upgrades, and various equipment swaps at cell sites.
  • Taking complete ownership of project financials, from initial proposal/bid through receipt of final product or service including project budget funding, adherence to budget spending, creation and tracking of purchase orders, and inspecting work performed by contractors.
  • Delivering accurate, timely, and concise communications, explaining issues clearly, updating project trackers daily, and emailing and calling project members frequently.
  • Providing clear direction and supervision to contractors, vendors, and/or other teams supporting upgrade projects.
  • Managing RFQ/RFP and contract processes via bid tools, awarding projects, monitoring progress, providing regular status updates, and resolving issues.
  • Providing guidance for site surveys to ensure cell site upgrade projects account for civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical feasibility.
  • Reviewing site survey reports with a focus on measurements, power readings, HVAC assessments, photos, drawings, issues, and recommendations for upgrade projects.
  • Reviewing punch walk/acceptance check lists to ensure construction issues are identified and corrected.
  • Verifying testing parameters to include voltage, sweeps, PIM, and other tests supporting cell upgrade projects.
  • Evaluating new products, services, and vendors, while weighing the pros and cons, including impacts to the system, cost, compatibility, ease of use, and reliability.
  • Interfacing with internal and external departments to include Real Estate, Regulatory, and municipal agencies in the pursuit of construction and in-service approvals, building permits, and construction inspections.
  • Travelling up to 25% of the time.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Accounting, Finance, or a Telecommunications track.
  • Five or more years of experience in the wireless telecom industry with a focus on cell site project management disciplines.
  • Ability to work well independently as a self-starter who delivers projects on time, with zero defects, and within budget.
  • Strong ability to manage changing and competing priorities.
  • Ability to learn new processes and technologies quickly, retain new info, and conduct independent research.
  • Ability to adapt communication style to setting and investigate/implement alternate approaches to resolve challenging problems independently.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, support night and weekend work, answer phone calls whenever crews are on site supporting your projects, respond to emails promptly, and actively lead and participate in project/team meetings.
  • Knowledge of Alcatel-Lucent CDMA base stations, Ericsson LTE/AWS base stations, Ericsson Remote Radio Units, JMA and Commscope Remote Electrical Tilt Antennas, hybrid cables, and CPRI mux/patch panels.
  • Understanding of project management, budgeting processes, Sarbanes-Oxley, and inventory controls.
  • Knowledge of HVAC, National Electrical Code requirements, environmental requirements including hazardous material, spill prevention, and other regulatory guidelines, general building maintenance, and vendor maintenance.
  • Understanding of site power plants to include: DC power systems, AC UPS systems, emergency generators, and corresponding distribution systems.
  • Knowledge of cell site design/engineering, construction, real estate, regulatory, and operations.
  • High proficiency with computer applications, including Gmail, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
