What you’ll be doing...

As our Senior Cloud Engineer, you will be responsible for managing highly complex large scale projects related to the Public Cloud deployments, automation, engineering, and management. These projects will typically include investigating new Public Cloud services and defining how these services can be leveraged by Verizon application developers. You will work with application teams to define requirements and recommend new solutions for the various end user applications. The successful candidate will have a high level of technical expertise related to understanding and leveraging Public Cloud Resources, as well as programming and orchestrating the deployment of Public Cloud services.

You will lead very large and highly complex projects and will perform project management activities such as planning, sizing, configuration and scheduling activities between Cloud vendors, application teams, network teams and other Cloud administrators. You will also develop highly complex technical solutions and makes decisions that impact projects and staff members. Example of these projects are:

  • Leading the deployment of large projects to support mission critical applications in the Public Cloud.
  • Leading the engineering of Public Cloud services for use by application developers.
  • Engineering deployment strategies to automate the deployment of systems and applications in the cloud.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • Expert knowledge of Public Cloud architectures, configurations, services, and solutions, specifically Google Cloud Platform services - compute engine, storage services, networking services, load balancing, app engine, asynchronous messaging, machine learning, and cloud AI.
  • Google Cloud certifications- Associate Cloud Engineer / Professional Cloud Architect.
  • Expert knowledge of information systems concepts, system administration and cloud and platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of containers and container management technologies like Docker, Kubernetes (including Google Kubernetes Engine), Rancher, Mesosphere.
  • Strong knowledge of Serverless Cloud platforms (Google Cloud Functions) and API integration.
  • Strong knowledge of scripting and automation programming -- Ruby, Python, Perl, BASH.
  • Strong knowledge of Configuration management tools - Ansible, Chef, Puppet.
  • Strong knowledge of leveraging and managing CI/CD toolchain - Jira, STASH, Git, and Jenkins.
  • Experience leading teams and projects from a technical and project management perspective.
