What you’ll be doing...

As our Cloud Containers-as-a-Service (CaaS) engineer, you will be responsible for engineering complex large scale projects in a cloud platform focused on full end to end automation, engineering new services into the platform, and performing 24x7 support within a Kubernetes environment. This includes investigating and implementing new services and defining how the services can be leveraged by Verizon enterprise applications. You will work with application teams to define requirements and implement new solutions for the enterprise applications.

You will have a high level of technical expertise and daily hands-on implementation working in a product team developing services in two week sprints using agile principles. This entails programming and orchestrating the deployment of feature sets into the Kubernetes CaaS platform along with building Docker containers via a fully automated CI/CD pipeline utilizing Jenkins, Ansible, AWS CloudFormation, Artifactory, Git, and Bitbucket.

You will evaluate technical options for meeting user needs and ensure that system requirements are identified, prioritized, and incorporated in an effective, efficient manner. You will have the ability to translate application requirements into systems design and implementation plans.

  • Translating application requirements into system requirements that can then be used to design and implement the operating environment for applications to run in a Kubernetes CaaS platform.
  • Evaluating legacy application design and recommending fundamental application redesign changes required to function in a Kubernetes CaaS platform.
  • Responsible for developing standards and providing guidance to management and peers. Demonstrating strong communication skills needed to demonstrate developed and integrated solutions for a Kubernetes CaaS platform.
  • Evaluating new Cloud CaaS Solutions to determine value within Verizon's IT.
  • Performing POC (Proof of Concept) technical evaluations for new technologies for use in the Cloud.
  • Performing analyses of various Cloud CaaS platforms setting up comprehensive test and evaluation plans, and summarizing test results. Assessing potential benefits to Verizon and making recommendations accordingly.
