What you’ll be doing...

Join our IT Application Security team where you will be responsible for development and integration tools. We host a suite of internally developed tools to automate existing processes of applications and functional areas such as open source scans and third party data inspections.

The position will be responsible for providing development and second line production support for Verizon’s application security tools.

  • Providing self-service support and automation of security testing.
  • Handling vulnerability management.
  • Analyzing metrics and reporting.
  • Supporting online forensic tools for customer safeguarding including batch customer locking/tumbling, account fingerprinting and data collection for forensic analysis.
  • Enabling continuous delivery pipelines for automation of core security tasks in Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Working with web and web services development for application security tools and API integration with various Verizon.com and Verizon applications based on new business and security requirements.
  • Developing and testing Java application software to modify existing architecture or implement new architecture and making necessary changes to the system interfaces utilizing Verizon’s DevOps source and object code libraries and configuration management procedures.
  • Conforming to existing industry and Verizon security coding standards and adhering to source code scan and other security tool review requirements.
  • Providing code reviews and documentation in support of code inspection reviews as part of the DevOps software packaging and deployment lifecycle.
  • Handling the setup and integrating software applications and providing post-rollout application support for assigned projects.
  • Implementing DevOps pipeline automation in support of secure development lifecycle.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with Java/J2EE development, web services development, and database design/development.
  • Web application security experience including experience with OWASP Top 10, static code analysis and remediation.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • Demonstrated strong Web application security knowledge.
  • Knowledge of industry secure coding standards to prevent common vulnerabilities such as SQL Injections, Cross Side Scripting, Open Redirect and other secure coding standards.
  • Experience with Agile software development practices and test driven development.
  • Experience with web frameworks and front end frameworks.
  • Experience with micro-services development.
  • Experience with Asynchronous Web Design Patterns and writing scalable web applications.
  • Experience with Docker and related technologies.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present findings concisely and effectively to critical audiences.
  • Self-starter personality with strong self-management skills.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving abilities.
  • High level of motivation.
