What you’ll be doing...

As the RF Engineer, you will contribute to the RF design of Verizon’s regional wireless network to maximize network performance and deliver the best, most reliable customer experience:

  • Perform RF design and engineering utilizing knowledge of 5G, 4G LTE, CDMA 1x, EVDO technologies.
  • Work with site configurations that include Small Cells, Macro Cells, ODAS, In Building systems, etc.
  • Perform antenna selection and placement.
  • Analyze sites designs utilizing propagation modeling tools and RF principles.
  • Support microwave system design, selection and implementation.
  • Determine site capacity requirements and support implementation of solutions.
  • Develop new site designs, release search area requests (SARF) and support other network teams through project completion.
  • Redesign existing sites to minimize capacity constraints and improve SINR.
  • Utilize internal Verizon tools and processes to achieve regulatory compliance and approvals.
  • Partner with System Performance to reduce Lost Calls, Ineffective Attempts, Failed connection attempts, Dropped Connections, RRC setup failures, RRC Drops, Context Setup Failures, and Context Drops
  • Implement performance enhancements and ensure project initiatives are completed.
  • Optimize the network using traditional and non-traditional means to address the Network topology and technology changes.
  • Support the investigation and resolution of customer service complaints using drive test tools, post processing and mapping tools along with OTA messaging to determine root causes
  • Analyze network performance to ensure sites are integrated into the network and optimized for peak performance
  • Collaborate with other Network groups, (e.g., real estate, system performance, construction, etc.).
  • Network baseline measurements and monitoring play a key role in optimizing Verizon’s network. The RF Engineer will support baseline initiatives through analyzing results and supporting network improvement projects.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • RF design experience.
  • Experience leading a technical team and project.
  • Valid driver's license

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineer, Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or advanced degree.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Expert knowledge of Atoll, VPI/MPT.
  • Strong knowledge of SP tools including RTT, Zite, TrueCall. IRISVIEW.
  • Knowledge of Site Management tools including SPM and Site Tracker.
  • Multi-year System Performance experience.
  • Multi-year RF Design Experience including experience in dense urban design.
  • Proven data analytic experience resulting in improved automation or process improvement.
  • Demonstrated exceptional statistical and analytic skills.
  • Automation and Project Management experience.
  • Expert understanding of LTE networks with special emphasis on VoLTE air link protocols and data session call flows.
  • In-depth technical knowledge of the wireless network including the RAN and core.
