What you’ll be doing...

As Verizon’s Self Optimizing Network Performance Engineer (SON) you’ll be a key contributor in identifying network optimization opportunities and drive development and deployment of those solutions throughout the Verizon Network. You’ll help drive our strategic initiative in improving our SON effectiveness by developing new ways for SON to add context and more relevant information into our decisions. You’ll work closely with our vendors to ensure deliverables, timelines and enhancements are met and improve our overall effectiveness. We’ve got some of the world’s most advanced technology at our disposal and you’ll have the ability to support, plan and help build future platforms to bring all existing SON platforms together - giving the business a better opportunity to drive change.

  • Coordinating features and algorithms across the different self-optimizing performance platforms and technologies for maximum impact.
  • Abstracting relevance from all vendors and technologies and finding ways to improve the effectiveness and accuracy of SON in the network.
  • Reviewing new SON technology in the industry as a whole and determining opportunities for Verizon.
  • Managing field deployment and ongoing support of SON features. Including testing and validation and using field feedback to drive vendor roadmaps and internal algorithm development.

What we’re looking for...

You’re an organized, detail-oriented project leader with a deep understanding of SON solutions and expert knowledge in Nokia, Ericsson and Samsung RAN technologies. As a strategic thinker who sees the big picture, you can bring ideas together to deliver the right solution and enhancements to our network. You’ve got a set of sophisticated influencing strategies to help drive the planning and people process. You’ve got valuable insights, and you know how to bring them to life.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge in Nokia, Ericsson and Samsung RAN technologies.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree in engineering, computer science, computer engineering.
  • A Master’s degree.
  • Experience in RF performance and field testing as well as vendor management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with network performance tools, and SON platforms,
