What you’ll be doing...

You will provide 24x7 operational support for the OCS suite of services nationally, including: Account Group Share, Real Time Reporting, eSM, and Diameter/LDAP Routers on both bare metal and VCP platforms. OCS is a multi-departmental national platform comprised of 100+ network elements. You will utilize your in-depth knowledge of the OCS hardware, software and call flows, and will be responsible for the execution and implementation of software/firmware updates, hardware monitoring and parts replacements, troubleshooting network elements and call flows, and rotational on-call support.

  • Provide direction on technical issues and manage to resolution any variances identified.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision, while keeping management fully aware of issues or impending failures.
  • Learn and maintain operational excellence, and identify and share areas of possible improvement.
  • Work with internal teams and the vendor in regards to KPIs, system performance, roadmaps, installations, SLAs, and development of project needs.
  • Leverage your broad and extensive knowledge of platforms that vary in technology, brand and vendor support.
  • Take ownership of all aspects of environment maintenance and supportability designs that enable the Operations team to support the platform.
  • Independently interface with multiple vendors, project teams and resources within various platforms.
  • Ensure the environments meet the high standards of Verizon network elements through the expertise of policies, procedures and technical requirements for each vendor and platform.
  • Implement plans for new software and manage a variety of technical functions resources to deliver sound design.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with Linux, HP HW, ATCA, c7000 architecture, 3G & 4G call flows.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in TCP/IP, UDP, Network protocols, DNS, IP and Netmask, DIAMETER, SIP, LDAP and load balancing.
  • Knowledge of design principals and hardware/equipment installation.
  • Project management experience.

  • Strong leadership skills and an ability to drive teams to consensus.
  • Ability to effectively engineer platforms that impact millions of customers.
  • Self-motivation, initiative, and the ability to work well independently.
  • Knowledge of PNM, IrisView, NetScout, Linux transport configuration and debugging tools such as wireshark, tcpdump, ping, netstat, mii-tool as well as Linux routing tables for source based routing.
  • Ability to work closely with Maintenance Engineering, CDS Engineering, HQ Planning and Product development organizations.
  • Willingness to travel approximately up to 25% of the time.
  • Experience with Verizon Wireless PeopleSoft Purchasing system.
