What you’ll be doing...

Our program provides the US Government with special capabilities in our commercial networks to support emergency communications needs during natural or man-made disasters. As a Principal PTS Standards Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring that the design of priority services in the Verizon network(s) for wireless priority voice, data, and video services with standards bodies. You’ll play a key role in making sure our customers continue to enjoy the crystal-clear connections and top-notch call performance during times the network is overloaded because of an emergency event.

This technical Project Manager is a member of the Verizon Priority Services Support Center and is viewed by the customer as a subject matter expert responsible for on-time delivery of project deliverables.

As our Project Manager you will have strong interpersonal skills and a comprehensive understanding of technical solution delivery as well as the interdependencies between technologies. This position will be responsible for the on-time, on-budget delivery of large, complex IT consulting and infrastructure implementation projects and programs. Specifically, this position will oversee development and implementation of priority services projects.

As PM, you will demonstrate clear and consistent ownership and accountability for the delivery of the project as represented in the Statement of Work, including, but not limited to requirements development and scope management, project schedule development, management, and tracking, resource management and time tracking, project financial management and tracking, project risk management - project issue management, and project communication / reporting management. You will be responsible for overall success of the project and/or program including fulfillment of the client business and technical requirements and adherence to the approved project scope and budget. You will consistently execute according to Verizon Delivery Methods centered on the PMI delivery model, develop strong professional relationship with client stakeholder(s) consistently demonstrating knowledge of the client business, and consistently represent self as the delivery leader.

You’ll provide support for development of technical proposals, working with cross-functional teams to gather customer requirements, develop architecture solutions and compliancy matrices that meet customer requirements and industry standards. You will manage the documentation deliverables to align with customer's system engineering life cycle process.

You will have to develop and maintain excellent proactive, working relationships with all appropriate levels within and outside the company, especially internal teams. You will be responsible for satisfying customer technical, product quality and timely delivery expectations.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • PMP certification.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary (<25%) and willingness to work extended hours, including some nights and weekends as necessary.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain agovernment issued security clearance.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of network infrastructure project management experience.
  • Master’s degree or MBA.
  • Experience hosting meetings attended by client executives, stakeholders and executives.
  • Six or more years of enterprise infrastructure project management experience.
  • ITIL v3 certification.
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills to accurately represent and convey information both in verbal and written form.
  • Ability to multi-task with awareness of several simultaneous work streams.
  • Experience managing competing and conflicting priorities in a dynamic and fast paced work environment.
  • In-depth understanding of project management processes and principles, including experience in deliverables associated with these practices.
  • Experience managing remote and leveraged resources across multiple business and technical silos.
  • Detail-oriented and the ability to thrive in challenging situations.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a self-directed work team.
