What you’ll be doing...

Our network engineering team keeps us ahead of the competition. As an RF Engineer, you’ll be redesigning mature network areas to minimize capacity constraints and improve SINR while working with other areas of network to ensure performance fixes and initiatives are in place. You’ll play a key role in making sure our customers continue to enjoy the crystal-clear connections and top-notch call performance that we’re known for.

  • Managing search area issuance, candidate assessment, and approvals.
  • Partnering with System Performance to improve various network KPIs.
  • Using internal tools to process regulatory compliance.
  • Working on new cell sites, making sure the site is properly integrated into the network and optimized for peak performance.
  • Performing Macro/Small Cell design/In Building design, including antenna selection and placement.
  • Using knowledge of GSM, LTE, CDMA 1x, EVDO and microwave to contribute to network design.
  • Working with Capacity and System Performance to identify and kick off new search areas for cell sites, and walk candidate locations, approve site locations and create RF site designs.
  • Identifying and designing capacity solutions including new sites, carrier adds, and optimization projects. Releasing designs and supporting them through the project lifecycle including: design, drawing reviews, EME analysis, and regulatory submissions (FCC and EME).
  • Proactively looking for areas to improve overall network performance, and providing technical leadership through analysis, troubleshooting and training of market and regional engineers as needed.
  • Coordinating with various groups including Capacity, SP Engineering, and Operations, etc. to design and successfully deploy network improvement solutions.
  • Prioritizing multiple high-visibility projects and driving decisions and resolutions for unique problems that may not have existing/complete solutions.
  • Optimizing LTE and RAN Networks using traditional and innovative means.
  • Reviewing all aspects of job functions and recommending new procedures, programs, or test tools to enable greater job productivity.
  • Interfacing with PM, real estate, construction, switch/field operations, engineering, sales, marketing, finance and regulatory to ensure that our network quality and financial objectives are met.
  • Continuously improving the performance of voice and data wireless networks.
  • Taking ownership of projects and identifying new processes to improve efficiencies and optimize network performance. Prioritizing high visibility projects to meet regional build plan goals and manage projects independently.
  • Taking ownership of issues and driving them to resolution.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or computer science.
  • Experience in RF design and optimization.
  • Knowledge of RF theory and practice, as well as LTE/VoLTE technology.
  • Experience in design & optimization of LTE/VoLTE networks.
  • Expert knowledge of propagation modeling software such as Planet EV or Atoll.
  • Understanding of LTE network KPIs and key parameters.
  • Experience with Model Tuning.
  • Knowledge of various RF tools such as Mapinfo or post processing software.
  • Knowledge of SQL scripting or VB Scripting.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, including VB macro creation and worksheet manipulation.
  • Experience with EME analysis tools such as RoofMaster.
  • Knowledge of Google Earth, ArcGIS, and Topo.
  • Strong statistical and analytical abilities.
  • Self-motivation with the ability to work independently and efficiently.
