What you’ll be doing...

Our Corporate Strategy group is responsible for working with business unit leaders, corporate stakeholders and external advisors to generate long-term growth and shareholder value. This group analyzes where value gets created across all of our different businesses (e.g. Wireless, Wireline, Oath, Telematics) and generates insights to help inform:

  • Strategic assessments for optimizing operational and financial performance.
  • New business and growth opportunities (both organic and inorganic).
  • Corporate-level resource allocation.
  • Emerging business models (e.g. 5G).

The group also analyses adjacent industries and players for potential investments.

This group’s work feeds directly into key executive and board decisions—and has a high degree of regular visibility into senior executive leaders, including a direct line of communication to the CEO.

You will be a key member of the Corporate Strategic Analysis and Planning team within our Corporate Strategy group. You will rely on quantitative and financial analyses to determine where value resides in our business and develop strategic recommendations based on these findings. Your primary focus will be on telecom and media products and services (mobile, broadband, fiber, video, voice and data and value-added solutions for the B2B and B2C segments). However, you will also have opportunities to work on emerging and adjacent verticals and markets.

  • Performing quantitative and financial analysis on our business units at a granular level to identify key value drivers that influence value creation.
  • Explaining relative value creation by looking at competitive benchmarks, industry trends and market dynamics.
  • Collaborating with key stakeholders—business unit executives, our corporate finance and business units’ strategy teams—to uncover business opportunities and formulate strategic recommendations.
  • Developing insights on industry challenges and new opportunities through competitive analysis and market research.
  • Crafting compelling and cogent presentations to senior management to articulate findings and Strategies.
  • Participating in scenario planning and “war gaming” workshops.
  • Conducting big data analysis.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge of telecom and media landscape.

Even better if you have:

  • MS/MBA.
  • Understanding of telecom and media landscape, the players, key trends.
  • Understanding of new technology as it comes together to disrupt existing industries and create new ones.
  • Seven or more years of experience in one or more areas: strategic planning, strategy consulting, investment banking, buy-side analyst.
  • Excellent research, quantitative analysis (financial and statistical) and modeling skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (long form writing, PowerPoint presentation and verbal).
  • Ability to synthesize information, frame the issues strategically, and present findings to senior management.
  • Intellectual curiosity, high energy and excited about taking initiatives, self-starter, creative and innovative thinker, have a passion for excellence.
  • Passion for arriving at the answer through a combination of independent research, financial analysis, competitive benchmarking and manipulation of data; always fact-based in forming hypotheses.
  • Comfort working in a dynamic environment.
  • Working knowledge of geospatial data analysis and scripting languages.
