What you’ll be doing...

We take pride in being the first and as our Wireline Franchise Consultant, you will help us achieve that. You’ll be a pivotal part in the acquisition and management of our franchise agreements that allow Verizon to utilize public rights of ways. You’ll partner with different organizations to ensure franchise agreements meet business needs. You’ll also analyze state and local franchise laws and regulations within your assigned market.

  • Fully understanding the franchise framework within your market, including how local governments manage and are compensated for public right-of-way use.
  • Negotiating franchise agreement terms and provisions with local franchise authorities (cities and counties).
  • Strategically crafting persuasions to allow for timely construction of fiber optic facilities while limiting or reducing costs and unreasonably restrictive contractual requirements.
  • Submitting franchise applications, insurance, bonding, state commission certificates and other required documentation.
  • Representing Verizon before local City and County Governments including workshops and city council or county commission meetings.
  • Ensuring compliance with franchise agreement terms and conditions.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Four or more years of legal statute, case law experience.

Even better if you have:

  • Master’s degree, and/or preferably a law degree.
  • Experience in the telecommunications industry including small-cell deployment, engineering design, and understating of the Telecommunications Act of 1996.
  • Experience working with senior level attorneys, outside counsel and executive level leadership and political representatives.
