What you’ll be doing...

As the Interconnect Engineer, you will be responsible for Wireless/Wireline transport ordering, provisioning, implementation and optimization of transport circuits within the Core Engineering and Operations team. In this role, you will define transport options, circuit build timelines and identify diversity requirements for several complex migration projects. You will partner with other organizations to obtain missing data information in order to submit circuit disconnects to 3rd party vendors for overall cost savings initiatives.

  • Manage and work with vendors to obtain quotes, negotiate pricing, and ensure their products and services meet Verizon requirements. Document and track key service indicators and actively participate in regular vendor meetings.
  • Maintain circuit path, switch, vendor diversity, best cost routing; where economically justified.
  • Maintain accurate circuit inventory in Granite client environment and Nautilus inventory tool, including work order task completion, circuit path integrity, and billing.
  • Manage projects to support growth and performance requests in support of the nationwide data and voice networks.
  • Provide quick resolution to a diverse range of complex voice and data transport circuit problems.
  • Work independently to achieve operation excellence.
  • Prepare job aids and tools that document internal methods and procedures for technology guidelines.
  • Plan tasks with little input from management or cohorts.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or one or more years of work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in Telecommunication circuits and Transport Hierarchy.
  • Experience with transport ordering processes and tools.
  • Understanding of Software Defined Networking and Cloud Platforms.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Proven ability to create milestone trackers used to measure progress between functional groups.
  • Demonstrated flexibility by attempting alternate solutions to resolve issues and seamlessly adjusting to a dynamic changing business environment.
  • Demonstrated excellent analytic, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Granite/Nautilus Inventory Tool.
  • Demonstrated high-quality presentation skills with the proven capability to communicate ideas effectively.
