What you’ll be doing...

The Data Traffic Engineering team uses modeling software and other traffic analysis tools to “stress test” various IP and MPLS enabled networks across Verizon. In this role you will:

  • Utilize available vendor and internal tools to ensure Verizon’s network have adequate capacity to handle peak traffic during various failure scenarios.
  • Accurately forecast network augments to efficiently plan for future growth.
  • Assist the Operations NOC to troubleshoot and resolve customer latency issues.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with internal groups to ensure successful network transitions from Verizon’s legacy IP / MPLS enabled networks to the future One Network design.

What we’re looking for...

The science of analytics with an eye towards testing, reliability, predictability and improving performance is attractive to you. Working independently to resolve complex problems which impact customers is an area that you find enjoyable. You’re great at troubleshooting and solving problems that require the integration of lots of data.

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with network protocols such as IP and MPLS and backbone data network architectures and elements.

Even better if you have:

  • Your degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or Information Systems Management.
  • Experience with operating systems including Windows Server, Linux RedHat, Suse Linux and SunOS.
  • Experience with analytical tools such as Splunk, Spotfire, Tableau, OBIEE.
