What you’ll be doing...

In this position, you will be supporting the VCP (Verizon Compute Platform) Core/Lite transport network by engineering solutions and developing automation for orchestrated deployment into the network.

Details of this role include:

  • The engineering and deployment of the VCP Core transport network that includes the evolution to the next generation architecture.
  • Engineering of the evolution from traditional provider peering networks to the iEN transport network with services from MSE/SSE.
  • Engineering and implementation of new VCP Core/Lite transport locations along with developing automation with new build projects to reduce time to market.
  • Auditing of existing infrastructure and policy enforcement across the VCP Core/Lite transport platforms.
  • Collaboration with the planning teams on the next generation architecture in engineering right-sized networks and delivering a product that is scalable for tenants.
  • Monitoring/Analyzing existing network architecture for potential augments and expansion of provider networks capacity along with bandwidth on the fabric.
  • Documentation of existing network when changes are performed as well as the future network deployments.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Network engineering experience in a cellular or telecommunications environment.

Even better if you have:

  • An advanced degree in engineering or related field.
  • Technical leadership skills in the engineering of routing and switching concepts including interior and exterior routing protocols.
  • Proficiency with the OpenStack environment specifically the interaction between the stack and SDN controller.
  • Understanding of VXLAN concepts as well as underlay and overlay CLOS type architecture.
  • Experience in automation tools like Ansible, Python, and understanding in NETCONF, REST API interfaces.
  • Ability to work across teams to achieve goals and have an open line of communication to see through to a successful project implementation.
  • Experience in implementation and audit complex routing and switching designs in large networks.
