What you’ll be doing...

This position is responsible for leading the key areas of EMEA Regional Accounting and supporting Director of EMEA & APAC Regional Accounting. It involves managing the assigned accounting function for the business within the Accounting organization, including being responsible for delivery (quality & timeliness) of EMEA Accounting, associated local compliance and transformation. This leader not only oversees the day to day operations but also thinks and acts strategically. This change agent will lead and ensure successful full adoption of change and transformation projects. These projects include people, process and system aspects, as well as acquisitions and divestitures. This position reports to Director of EMEA & APAC Accounting based in Reading, UK

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Development, planning and execution of EMEA Accounting strategy and policy implementation
  • Identify and drive improvement opportunities for EMEA Accounting and work closely with internal teams to ensure improvement opportunities are implemented
  • Lead the development of strategies, methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for EMEA projects, programs and people. Provides new business and product support
  • Analyzes and articulates EMEA financial results including US and Local GAAP
  • Maintain substantive and material interaction with functional areas of the company
  • Ensures the accurate compilation, analysis and reporting of EMEA financial data
  • Oversees the EMEA local statutory and audit process to ensure financial statements and disclosures are accurate.
  • Responsible for international statutory filings including annual accounting and other governmental compliance for EMEA
  • Act as key liaison between the company, government, and external auditors in providing the required information and ensuring that proper information is maintained for historical purposes
  • Coordinates and oversees activities relative to internal controls, documentation and testing and segregation of duties (Sarbanes Oxley or local equivalent, where applicable)
  • Select, develop and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function

Works on highly complex special financial and accounting projects in support of overall organizational strategy

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Degreeor related experience
  • CPA certification (or local equivalent such as ACCA, ACA or CIMA)
  • Experience in managing accounting activities across multiple EMEA countries and currencies
  • Experience being in a Shared Service Center environment
  • Excellent oral and written English skills
  • Experience managing a team of managers and professionals
  • Direct project management experience, including initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and closing of projects
  • Experience designing and implementing accounting systems, running continuous improvement projects, and conducting root cause analysis.
  • Working knowledge of accounting systems and applications including SAP, CPM/Essbase, and Blackline.
  • Strong knowledge of FASB and SEC requirements, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, tax reporting and accounting practices.
  • Familiar with international business & accounting practices and processes including local statutory reporting in EMEA, IFRS and US GAAP
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially in Excel;
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Good team, organizational planning skills, sound judgment, calm but work with a high sense of urgency, attention to detail and strong time management

Even better to have:

  • Master's in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or equivalent
  • Fluency in non-English languages that are spoken across EMEA (French, Germany, Spanish…etc)
  • Experience in the technology or telecommunications industry
