What you’ll be doing...

Verizon Enterprise is looking for a Managing Director and Global Head of Enterprise Application Integration & Development practice under the professional services arm of Verizon that will be responible for building, leading, and managing a team of application consultants, architects, and developers with focus on edge, mobile, and 5G vertical use-cases and applications. A corporate entrepreneur, this individual will be responsible for strategy, build, and overall P/L accountability of a start-up application practice team, global eco-system partners, and revenue stream and must be capable of recruiting, leading, inspiring and mentoring high-performing talent.

Business Partner- proactively reaches out to internal customers and peers to establish trusting relationships; strives to understand goals of business/technology, takes broad POV, effectively manages requests and helps to understand tradeoffs and make difficult decisions.
Change Agent- effectively presents strategic direction to internal customers and direct reports; seeks to differentiate and improve customer experience in proactive manner; let's others speak and seeks to understand their viewpoints.
Team Leader- develops clear goals for the team and aligns the business unit behind them to drive results; focuses on enabling the team to make decisions and demonstrates support for their team.
Talent Developer- seeks to understand direct reports career aspirations, strength and opportunity areas before providing guidance; defines capabilities and expectations for role(s) based on needs; provides context on situations when provide feedback

Strategic Responsibilities

  • Create and lead a “Build-Buy-Partner” model to accelerate practice maturity and overall capability enablement.
  • Engage with business partners to refine requirements and strategies to help drive business goals/objectives and lead the team to deliver and support innovative digital technology solutions to meet business goals.
  • Implement a technology strategy leveraging mobile, edge and 5G capabilities.
  • Build capabilities around the application delivery practices, processes, and tools, driving further adoption of Discover Management Systems, Agile, and Value Stream and “platform first” principles.
  • Help construct an overall Go-To-Market message and offerings and capability to deliver on the offerings.
  • Drive an end-to-end lifecycle enablement of application development and integration delivery capability from “Outcomes First” to “Ideation and Incubation” to “Strategic Consulting & Advisory” then “Development Lifecycle” to eventual “run and operate frameworks.”

Operational Responsibilities

  • Ensure the Application Development & Integration area uses sound practices and processes for implementing custom developed and packaged solutions.
  • Develop, implement and maintain a team organization that ensures skills and capacity for project and enhancement work while providing superior support for production applications.
  • Maintain knowledge of best practices in information technology, development processes, and software architecture.
  • Maintain knowledge of key business processes supported by Verizon platforms, solutions, and applications and technology.
  • Ensure business area requests for application development services are understood, prioritized, and addressed.
  • Allocate skilled resources for project and enhancement requests as well as day-to-day operations.
  • Establish and manage Workforce Planning initiatives to ensure the organization can achieve its goals/initiatives by having the right people with the rights skills and competencies in the right places at the right time.
  • Promote a risk-aware culture and ensure efficient and effective risk and compliance management practices by adhering to required standards and processes.
  • Maintain productive management level relationships with Verizon's business functions.
  • Ensure production systems are performing well and operating without defects.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and motivation to the integration & development team(s) responsible for creating and supporting applications.

What we’re looking for...

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or related field. Masters preferred.
  • 15+ years of Application Development, Software Development, Enterprise Integration and Application Consulting/Implementation Services.
  • Strong management experience with multi-tiered application languages.
  • Experience with both custom application software development and packaged software implementations.
  • Demonstrated ability, in platform first approaches, ability to solve problems, determine appropriate actions, and complete projects with little direction.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and thrive in a multi-project environment, while ensuring production systems are up and performing well.
  • Experience in waterfall and agile development processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with C-level gravitas.
