What you’ll be doing...

The primary goal of this position is to be a technical leader in the support of the MNSO OSS UCS Compute team. Your responsibilities include a wide range of activities including the architecture, planning, implementation, design, capacity management and operational support for the Linux Virtual and Physical infrastructure.

  • Collaborating with Operations Systems Support, Network Infrastructure, Security Infrastructure, Project teams, IT, Operations and Product teams. Activities including but not limited to Change, Incident, Problem and Risk Management.
  • Owning and driving resolution of highly complex UCS related user and application issues involving both normal business hours and off-hour escalations or maintenance activities.
  • Proactively maintaining and developing all RedHat Linux Virtual and Physical infrastructure technology to maintain a 24x7x365 uptime service.
  • Engineering of systems administration-related solutions for various project and operational needs.
  • Maintaining best practices on managing systems and services across all environments.
  • Conducting fault finding, analysis and of logging information for reporting of performance exceptions.
  • Proactively monitoring system performance and capacity planning.
  • Managing, coordinating, and implementing software upgrades, patches, hot fixes on servers, workstations, and network hardware.
  • Creating and modifying scripts or applications to perform tasks.
  • Providing input on ways to improve the stability, security, efficiency, and scalability of the environment.
  • Collaborating with other teams and team members to develop automation strategies and deployment processes.
  • Developing lab scenarios to mock user environments and testing components of proposed solutions.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Three or more years of experience with RedHat Linux.
  • Three or more years of experience as a Linux Administrator.
  • Three or more years of experience with MySQL and/or MariaDB.
  • Three or more years of experience with VMWare and SAN management and concepts.
  • Three or more years of experience with protocols such as DNS, HTTP, LDAP, SMTP and SNMP.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.

Even better if you have:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or similar relevant degree.
  • Expertise in Shell, Perl, and/or Python scripting.
  • ITIL v3 Foundation certification achieved within the first 6 months of start date.
  • Linux certifications (RHCT, RHCE and LPIC).
  • Strong problem solving and communication skills.
  • Intermediate working knowledge of network and security managed services and management systems.
  • Willingness to be on call and varying work hours, including weekend’s holidays.
  • Solid teamwork and interpersonal skills and capability to communicate verbally and in writing with customers, associates, vendors, and management.
  • Demonstrated ability thrive in a dynamic environment and deliver results.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual skills.
