What you’ll be doing...

Verizon Business Markets (VBM) is a newly created strategic business unit within Operations, to serve the wireline communications and networking technology needs of U.S.-based small and medium businesses, and state and local government. The Digital organization within IT will be focused on enabling an eco-system that hones in on digitizing the customer experience through technology with a cloud/mobile first tenet, and analytics to enable new products, directional product bundles, and third party solution – all to enable new revenue streams.

As our Production Support Specialist, you will oversee all production activity and operational aspects of the digital platform including performance or any other pre-production activities. You will manage any delivery to production, oversee the pipeline, manage the vendor delivering the code to production as well as look at logs, dashboards and also triage for any production issues. You will define the processes that we will need to effectively run the application and also coordinate activities across all teams for release management, technical dependencies as well as scheduled. You will interact with multiple stakeholders to ensure smooth launches, high availability and will also communicate releases and timelines to the stakeholders. Security, Change Control, Release Management, Devops and Performance are some aspects of the range of functions that need to be overseen and coordinated by this individual. You will join a team of highly motivated technology team that work at startup pace in a large corporation.

  • Own the Production Support processes and operational aspects of the Digital platform and be the single point of contact for the business and vendor for all production related activities.
  • Partner with various stakeholders including CISO, Network, IT and business across multiple business units to define releases, timelines, upgrades and necessary testing activities related to successful production implementations.
  • Exercise independent judgement in methods, techniques and evaluate criteria for uncovering risk in releases and have mitigation plans.
  • Triage and solve issues by expertise and collaborating with other IT teams and vendor resources.
  • Conduct effective change management.
  • Track trouble tickets, upcoming activity and maintain dashboards for operational stability and own the Devops pipeline for the application.
  • Manage logs, fallout, escalations as well as security or audit related items in conjunction with peers, when they affect the live environment.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ten or more years of experience in application development or support for web/cloud based technologies at scale.
  • Strong knowledge and experience of DevSecOps, Java, Scripting languages, Angular, databases. Development experience.
  • Knowledge of SaaS platforms like Salesforce, Vlocity, Splunk.
  • Knowledge of middleware applications, including APIGEE, MULE and FUSE, and the ability to troubleshoot them in a production environment.
  • Experience leading and driving large scale business process redesign and application deployments.
  • Experience managing outages, defects, release management, implementing large projects as well as ability to prioritize activities.
  • Strong project and vendor management skills and ability to manage cross functional initiatives.
  • Experience with browser technologies, scripting, UNIX and ability to learn newer tools.
  • Knowledge of Encryption Technologies, SSO integration and high level Security architecture.
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies and prior application experience.
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Avid learner who keeps up with industry and technology changes that may impact our application.
  • Ability to explain technical solutions to both a technical and non-technical audience.
