What you’ll be doing...

Verizon Business Markets (VBM) is a newly created strategic business unit within Operations, to serve the wireline communications and networking technology needs of U.S.-based small and medium businesses, and state and local government. The Digital organization within IT will be focused on enabling an eco-system that hones in on digitizing the customer experience through technology with a cloud/mobile first tenet, and analytics to enable new products, directional product bundles, and third party solution – all to enable new revenue streams.

The Security Specialist role architect will oversee and ensure that the Digital Platform conforms to all security requirements as per Verizon Standards. You will participate in security design, evaluation of new technologies and their impacts on security and help ensure that security controls and capabilities are built into the platform. You will also oversee all necessary processes to operationalize this as well as communicate and collaborate with vendors, CISO organization, and any other IT or business groups to ensure that the above is achieved. You will also be responsible for making sure that periodic reviews and audits are performed and the application is always in compliance.   • Own the Security posture and strategy for the Digital Platform application as a single owner and administrator of all processes to meet CPI 810 and Verizon Security practices.
  • Partner with various stakeholders including CISO, Network, IT and business across multiple business units to define security requirements, communicate the same and oversee implementation.
  • Exercise independent judgement in methods, techniques and evaluate criteria for uncovering risk in development life cycle as well as operations.
  • Oversee progress and implementation of static, dynamic scans, tokenization, data encryption, access controls, other security Practices specific to the Cloud and SaaS implementation.
  • Maintain Reports and Dashboards of application posture and activities that are in motion or not yet complete.
  • Manage exception policies and ensure periodic audit tasks are provided and any exceptions are closed in the required time.
  • Provide clarification to developers, vendors as needed in what needs to be implemented.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • Seven or more years of experience in implementing or overseeing Security in software applications at scale.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with DevSecOps.
  • Strong understanding of OWASP guidelines and its application to software engineering and delivery.
  • Penetration testing experience with knowledge in self-serve, mobile and middleware application space.
  • Experience working with analytics, dashboards, SIEM and managing security across the full life cycle of the application.
  • Strong project and vendor management skills and ability to manage cross functional initiatives.
  • Experience with developing dashboards in Splunk, Kibana. Exposure to SalesForce.
  • Experience with browser technologies, scripting, UNIX and ability to learn newer tools.
  • Knowledge of Encryption Technologies, SSO integration and high level Security architecture.
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies and prior application experience.
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Experience leading and driving large scale business process redesign and application deployments.
  • Avid learner who keeps up with industry and technology changes that may impact our security posture.
  • Ability to explain technical solutions to both a technical and non-technical audience.
