What you’ll be doing...

At 140 West, you will be part of the energy that’s evolving the Verizon brand into a leading technology player. The new Tribeca space is bringing together some of the industry’s sharpest minds from a multitude of disciplines to create an integrated team that can be responsive and innovative across every Verizon touchpoint.

As our Senior Social Strategist, you will design and implement the strategic vision for both paid, earned and owned channels. You will be responsible for generating a comprehensive data-driven communication plan that informs social strategy across all wireless and wireline initiatives including CSR and telematics. Also, you will be in charge of measurement and use social listening/analytics tools to ensure we are both optimizing work and meeting the pre-determined KPI metrics.

You will lead the integrated team to not only create work that drives both the brand and the business, but also strategically evaluate work from our partner agencies. You will acquire and share deep knowledge of the industry, including the competitive landscape, category disruptors and key business issues that affect Verizon. You will train and mentor junior strategists and be the deputy leader of the overall strategy group and produce work that drives high-level decisions and recommendations.

  • Developing social strategies using data analysis and creativity.
  • Setting the social strategic direction and driving alignment with overall media strategy.
  • Being at the forefront of innovation at both the strategic and campaign level.
  • Seeking opportunities to stay up to date on technology, tools, communication software, and social media.
  • Being a thought leader around research and ad-technology concepts, methods, and tools.
  • Providing insight into media testing methodologies and informing forecasting and optimization requirements for ensuring full impact.
  • Forming strong working bond with internal clients to become their trusted strategic partner.
  • Managing people which encompasses delegating tasks, teaching and mentoring.
  • Collaborating with IAT (integrated agency team) members across disciplines.
  • Working with data, analytics and media teams, to identify and illuminate the data’s narrative and frame the implications for communication.
  • Facilitating team brainstorms to stimulate unexpected ideas and initiatives.
  • Collaborating with creative and media teams as well as platform partners to refine executions.
  • Working with CMI on approach to uncovering the answers to the challenges.
  • Working with the 140 Director of Planning on projects that build the 140 strategy reputation.
  • Cultivating solid relationships with 140 colleagues, external partners and Verizon clients.
  • Managing daily priorities and proactively identifying future opportunities for the brand/business.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with agency and/or client side media strategy, creative strategy, brand planning roles.
  • Experience as a Planner / Senior Planner, Digital Strategist, Consumer Engagement, Communications Planner, Media Strategist, and/or Media Director.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • Ten or more years of experience in agency and/or client side media strategy, creative strategy, brand planning roles
  • Accomplished work independently.
  • Curiosity about people and brand behavior.
  • Passion about all types of media, especially digital and social.
  • Awareness of the media landscape, trends, challenges and competition.
  • Experience managing complex 360 & digital campaigns.
  • Platform proficiency, knowledgeable in ad platforms including but not limited to programmatic, search, paid social, remarketing.
  • Capability to articulate your vision in the ever changing media landscape.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to navigate difficult issues.
  • Experience in team oversight and talent development.
  • Ability to organize and work with complex information and data.
  • Demonstrated exceptional communication, organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to formulate smart POVs on industry related topics and socialize them.
  • Creative Brief and Strategic Framework Development experience.
  • Ability to deliver the message clearly and concisely, a strong story teller.
  • Experience building learning plans for both quantitative and qualitative research initiatives.
  • Working knowledge of common planning tools (e.g., Mintel, Iconoculture, etc.).
  • Strong analytical skills, understanding of KPI measurement and attribution.
  • Demonstrated curiosity for trends watching.
  • Client-side experience.
  • Collaborative approach with the ability to build strong relationships with both internal and client teams.
