What you’ll be doing...

  • Supports the team by being a subject matter expert.
  • Manages regulatory accounting functions in support of accurate, timely, and reliable regulatory accounting data and required regulatory reports.
  • Ensures compliance with Regulatory/Legal requirements (i.e. compliance with state system of accounts).
  • Works with all the functional groups in the organization to compile all the necessary data needed for regulatory reporting support.
  • Provides subject matter expertise by delivering guidance and advice regarding the appropriateness and accuracy of the monthly accounting, in compliance with federal and state regulatory requirements and determining the impact of any complex accounting literature.
  • Undertakes complex accounting projects and provides guidance on regulatory accounting issues as needed.
  • Prepares complex analyses of regulatory accounting data to ensure reporting accuracy.
  • Addresses, as needed, escalations from internal customers and responds to regulatory commission inquiries on complex issues as a subject matter expert, ensuring issue and error resolution.
  • Acts as a project manager for large and/or complex projects, leading a team of peers and subordinates in a matrix organization.
  • Identifies and drives improvement opportunities and works closely with either the internal team or service providers (if any) to ensure improvement opportunities are implemented to provide timely, accurate information in compliance with regulatory accounting requirements.
  • Interacts with other functional areas of the company, collaborating and participating in discussions involving accounting issues as it impacts regulatory reporting.
  • Leads training and skills development initiatives as a subject matter expert.
  • Works effectively and efficiently independently and in a team environment.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • CPA or CMA certification.
  • Knowledge of Federal and State regulatory accounting requirements, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, and internal accounting policies and practices.
  • Knowledge of accounting systems and applications such as SAP, PeopleSoft, CPM/Essbase, Hyperion Financial Management, and/or Blackline.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint.

Even better if you have:

  • Master's in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or equivalent.
  • Six or more years of directly related experience.
  • Proven process management skills.
  • Advanced understanding of report query and design.
  • Demonstrated experience in continuous improvement initiatives, root cause analysis and project management.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills; attention to detail.
