What you’ll be doing...

As our Engineer, you will remotely analyze, troubleshoot, and repair Layer 1-3 issues for Verizon’s Enterprise and Government Customers. The circuit mix includes domestic and international circuits. Responsibilities include technical troubleshooting across US, EMEA, APAC and LATAM networks. The level of complexity is high, given the equipment, various network protocols, and engineering designs. You will interface with and engage field and network teams, both inside Verizon and externally. You will provide advanced Tier 2 support to other teams when they encounter roadblocks.

You will work as part of a team but be self-driven to ensure a high level of service to our customers on various technologies.

  • Optical (SONET / SDH / OTN).
  • Private IP.
  • MPLS.
  • SDWAN / VPN.
  • TDM Technologies (DS0-DS3, E1).
  • Ethernet.
  • Converged Packet Access.

You will:

  • Isolate card failures in DXC and fiber equipment.
  • Dispatch field personnel.
  • Test with LECs and PTTs.
  • Escalate to vendors.
  • Keep customers updated on the progress of their repairs.
  • Provide upper management with outage reports.
  • Identify, isolate at drive resolution of chronic repeat failures.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Associate’s degree or two or more years of work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts including evenings, weekends, overtime and holidays as required.
  • Knowledge and experience with provisioning, slotting and repairing SONET, OTN, SDH, CPA, PIP, EVPL, Ethernet and TDM technologies.
  • Experience with analytical and GUIs applications for Ciena, Siemens, Nortel, Ericsson and/or other vendor equipment.
  • Two or more years of experience running intrusive circuit tests. I.E. BERT / RFC.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in telecom engineering or related field.
  • Experience and thorough understanding of multiple Verizon proprietary topology & provisioning systems.
  • Router administration equivalent to CCNA.
  • Proven ability to perform at a high level independently.
  • Demonstrated excellent Customer Service Skills.
  • Capability to work as part of a high performing team.
