What you’ll be doing...

Verizon is investing in its network to improve the way we live, work, and communicate. Our network transformation will be critical for all our future connectivity businesses including new products such as IoT, 5G, and future smart cities. As part of this network transformation, you will help build one network engineered for growth for all lines of business.

Our Networking team keeps Verizon ahead of the competition. You will be responsible for managing all engineering and construction activities associated with expanding and maintaining the network infrastructure. You will lead large scale projects, driving productivity through use of vendor resources to meet deliverables. You’ll have a positive impact on our organization, and change the way that our customers live, work, and play.

As our Field Assurance Engineer, you will be responsible for the proper operation of a large group of Cell Site Network Elements to include Macro, Small Cells, In-Building/ DAS systems and CRAN nodes. Include preventative and remedial maintenance, installation, optimization, building and ground upkeep, and integration of network hardware and interconnect facilities. Maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing all base station equipment and transmitters.

  • Handling the integration, operation, and maintenance of all base station equipment. (3G/4G/5G)
  • Performing preventative and remedial maintenance.
  • Performing site optimization including PIM/VSWR testing, 911 testing, and call testing.
  • Fiber testing/turn up.
  • Testing and analyzing network coverage to ensure contiguous communication and network integrity and quality.
  • DC Power plant monitoring.
  • Supporting of interdepartmental objectives for new projects.
  • Maintaining site and test equipment inventories.
  • Maintaining daily logs with site specific information.
  • Performing audits as required by local, Regional, Area, Corporate or Regulatory agencies.
  • Managing and prioritizing multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Performing duties independently and participating in cross-functional projects as scheduled.
  • Composing clear and concise reports for system documentation; and performing audits as required by local, regional, Area, Corporate or Regulatory agencies.
  • Performing installation and optimization of network elements.
  • Integrating Network hardware and interconnect facilities.
  • Analyzing network coverage to ensure contiguous communication and network integrity.
  • Making recommendations to engineering for improving network coverage and implementation.
  • Required to climb on a ladder to about 8ft for pole equipment maintenance.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.
  • EBH microwave Radio experience.
  • Ericsson eNB experience.
  • Ethernet Backhaul/Fiber experience.
  • Willingness to work on-call, nights, and weekends.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • C-RAN, Small Cell and In-Building/ DAS experience.
  • ALU Base Station experience.
  • Good technical understanding of computer networking protocols and services (LAN, WAN, routers, switches, TCP/IP, FTP).
  • Knowledge of various VZ Network Systems such as IOP, Airwave, FUZE, DMAT, RTT, SAM, Netsmart, and Workbench 360 (Remedy NOC/NRB Platforms).
  • Self-motivation and excellent problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Working knowledge of Google Collaboration Suite.
  • Intermediate training in at least 3 of the following areas: RF sys data communications, digital communications, operating systems and applications, telecommunications, computer support, project management, and/or power.
