What you’ll be doing...
This position supports the Transaction Tax department to ensure accurate billing of taxes (transactional & regulatory taxes) to Verizon’s customers. You will provide the on-going support for new product/service evaluation for tax impact and development as well as supporting billing systems, exemption systems and tax engine consolidation support. You will also analyze tax billing and exemption changes to construct business system requirements.
- Analyze and evaluate new services and products to identify tax/tax regulatory rules and associated billing systems impact.
- Represent Tax on all applicable product discussions/meetings & provide related tax requirements.
- Support billing systems’ tax rules’ engine conversions.
- Translate business needs and legislative/regulatory interpretations into business system requirements.
- Define/document business system requirements and partner with IT to manage the tax/tax regulatory rule changes to the tax billing processes.
- Accountable for managing the development life cycle for tax changes from inception, to requirements through testing and implementation.
- Research, analyze and resolve production issues & field questions/inquiries from business partners on tax/tax regulatory billing rules.
- Maintain on-going data integrity and accuracy relating to billing taxes, tax reference and documentation databases.
- Builds support tools to improve processes, gain efficiencies in the new product taxing process and business system requirements functions.
What we’re looking for...
You’ll need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
- Six or more years of relevant work experience.
- Experience with products/offer development.
Even better if you have:
- Advanced degree or CPA certification.
- Experience supporting telecom billing systems.
- Capability to communicate effectively.
- Experience in translating business needs into business systems requirements and terminology, e.g., business systems analysis background.
- Understanding of billing processes & functions' concepts.
- Ability to be a self-starter and work independently.
- Understanding/knowledge of Verizon’s products and services.
- Understanding of tax/tax regulatory fees/surcharges.
- Understanding of financial operations processes and revenue accounting.
- Ability to follow standard processes and support/understanding of internal controls.
- Experience and understanding of system and database architecture concepts.
