What you’ll be doing...

As a Network Design Engineer at Verizon within our Managed Services team, you'll work directly with F500 customers as they undergo network transformation. Work with the latest technologies, recommend best-in-class solutions, and implement industry best practicesto drive customer neworks forward. You will be performing routed/switched network design activity for our large enterprise customer data networks. As the primary interface to customers in support of their WAN/LAN enterprise projects, you will make us better by creating great enterprise customer data networks.

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Investigating, designing, planning, and implementing communications networks.
  • Partnering with customer teams to develop solutions that support their requirements.
  • Preparing network schematics to define and illustrate network design solutions.
  • Creating hardware and software configuration upgrades.
  • Providing IP addressing and routing strategies.
  • Preparing detailed work orders for technicians.

Your technical skills are top notch, and you are known for digging into the details to find the best solutions. You know how to get to the bottom of your customers’ needs, and how to manage your stakeholders’ expectations. Talking to people comes very naturally to you and you have an ability to communicate complex information in a way that people understand – whether verbal or written.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • A broad and thorough technical understanding and experience designing, configuring, implementing & testing, troubleshooting and supporting multi-site critical network environments that consist of multi-vendor Routers, Switches, Wireless LAN, WAN Accelerator, VoIP, Firewall & Network Security.
  • Hands-on experience designing and configuring various routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, EIGRP IGRP, HSRP, RIPv1 & RIPv2.
  • Hands on experience with complex QoS and VLAN configurations and designs.
  • Micro level technical project management for engineering requirements and responsibilities.
  • Experience designing and deploying state-of-art technology to meet the customer’s business needs.
  • Experience interfacing with the project management team regarding technical planning and network issues.
  • Experience providing input for forecast and planning resource allocation.
  • Experience acting as the direct interface with customers on advanced design solutions.
  • Experience developing white papers for designs specific to the customer’s network inclusive of Verizon Business solutions.
