What you’ll be doing...

Our people are our most valuable assets, but our equipment is pretty important too. As a Cell Technician, you’ll be keeping our facilities and equipment in top form by maintaining several locations in your assigned area. You’ll be doing regular maintenance, keeping inventories, doing audits, and creating reports. You’ll also be analyzing our network coverage and finding ways to make it even better.

  • Performing installation, optimization and maintenance of base station equipment and transmitters.
  • Conducting building and grounds inspections and maintenance.
  • Maintaining site and test equipment inventories.
  • Analyzing network coverage to find gaps, making recommendations to improve coverage, and helping to implement those recommendations.
  • Integrating network hardware and interconnect facilities.
  • Updating daily logs with site-specific information and generating reports.
  • Performing audits when required by various departments or regulators.

You’ll be responsible for the proper operation of a large group of wireless Network Elements. Your goal is to ensure the integrity of high availability network infrastructure to provide maximum performance for your customers. This includes the monitoring and completion and analysis of drive tests; verification of new software loads and other network reconfigurations and upgrades; and the specification and acceptance of antenna, cell site, and DAS modifications / additions / deletions. You will also be responsible for Hardware functionality for all Macro, Small Cells, Distributed Antenna Systems and CRAN. Performing your duties with little supervision, and participate in cross-functional projects as scheduled. In this role, you will also train existing field assurance team members on system performance related tasks.

  • Remotely troubleshooting network issues on both CDMA and LTE/VoLTE cell site equipment, routing equipment, and backhaul.
  • Monitoring the health of all network components on multiple technologies through various reporting tools to ensure that equipment is up and functioning optimally.
  • Demonstration of solid troubleshooting, analytical, and interpersonal skills. Serving as the interface between a multitude of different internal and external teams in analyzing and resolving network issues from Sales/Executive Escalations.
  • Working closely with the Field Assurance Engineers and System Performance Engineers to analyze and resolve sites with degraded performance KPI’s.
  • Monitoring the network through tools like RTT, Alarm List Viewer, ELPT, and Airwave.
  • Creating and dispatching tickets to the field when network issues cannot be resolved remotely.
  • Working with and building rapport with all field assurance teams and system performance teams.
  • Troubleshooting system problems such as hardware alarms, dropped calls, failed originations, and interference issues.
  • Understanding of Ericsson LTE, VoLTE, CDMA, and 3G-1X and operations.
  • Reviewing and understanding the key performance metrics of all services recently activated and existing network elements.

You’re tech savvy, and well-versed in all things telecommunications. Working independently suits you well. You’re also thorough, vigilant, and on top of the details—someone people count on to solve problems and to make sure they don’t happen in the first place.

You’ll need to have:

  • Associate’s degree or two or more years of work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • Electronics training in telecommunications, two-way radio, paging, or microwave radio.
  • Training in data communications, digital communications, operating systems and applications, computer support, project management, or power.
  • Voice cells infrastructure experience, such as Lucent, Motorola, Ericsson, LTE, or CDMA data.
  • Telecom experience such as T1, DACS, or OMP.
  • Computer support experience, including troubleshooting PC hardware and configurations.
  • Power experience such as Galaxy, Lorain, or DC distribution systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting antenna systems from transmitter to antenna.
  • Expertise in PIM/VSWR/MIMO/RET including knowledge of fiber and LTE remote radio heads.
  • CCNA .
