What you’ll be doing...

Verizon is investing in its network to improve the way we live, work, and communicate. Our network transformation will be critical for all our future connectivity businesses including new products such as IoT, 5G, and future smart cities. As part of this network transformation, you will help build one network engineered for growth for all lines of business.

You will manage all aspects of implementation of the One Fiber OSP build in the St Louis market. Tasks include but are not limited to, working with vendors to create and approve optimal fiber routes to capture internal and external business opportunities; meeting with cities and municipalities as needed to represent Verizon and explain the build; performing site walks as necessary and periodic QA checks of construction; managing vendors to align with business expectations; managing internal demands and being able to articulate and/or prepare documentation/reports to relay status; managing, driving and delivering overall schedule and timeline, escalating issues internally and externally to meet deliverables, and managing project budget internally and with vendor.

  • Coordinating and scheduling resources across multiple organizations to align project requirements with business goals and objectives.
  • Identifying, monitoring, reporting and escalating project-related issues with vendors and internal teams to achieve timely resolution.
  • Developing and implementing corrective action plans to mitigate impact to project schedules and overall business objectives.
  • Utilizing project tracking tools and systems to accurately document milestones completions, project issues, corrective action plans, project jeopardies, and overall project completions.
  • Maintaining excellent communication with team members, Internal groups, vendors and Direct Management to ensure early identification of issues a timely reporting of status.

What we’re looking for...

You know a lot about outside plant engineering practices. You enjoy analyzing problems and having the autonomy to select and implement the right solutions. While you work well independently, you are also a great team player and enjoy leading colleagues and coordinating efforts to ensure best outcomes. No stranger to a fast-paced environment, you manage multiple assignments and competing priorities while staying focused on important deadlines. As a strong communicator, you can quickly build relationships with a diverse range of people and explain complex technical issues in a way that everyone can understand.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical/science/mathematics fields.
  • Experience with windows-based programs and corporate database systems.
  • Experience with CAD, and MS Excel/MS Access.
