Roaming Operations FP&A

The Verizon Commercial Finance Organization is looking for a dynamic individual to join the Roaming Operations team as a Senior Manager of FP&A. The team is primarily responsible for decision support for Verizon Wireless’ Domestic and International Roaming teams, the Roaming Operations group and LRA team for financial and operational matters associated with roaming related costs. Our mission is to return shareholder value, provide quality budget, forecasting and reporting support in an efficient digitally centric fashion. In addition, a key to our success is streamlining processes, provide our customers with insight to identify opportunities to reduce roaming cost and generate new revenue.

Responsibilities:

As our Senior Manager FP&A – Roaming Operations you will be responsible for leadership of a team of professionals that provide oversight of processes with in‐depth analytical support and analysis for the roaming budget and forecast of domestic and international (collaboratively with the ICS Finance team in Dublin, Ireland) roaming performance. You will gain a solid understanding of the roaming business, financial statements, financial analysis and performance drivers.

  • Work with roaming operations teams to develop annual budget in a Zero-based Budgeting/Anaplan operating model, update forecasts monthly, and produce monthly reporting reflecting the actual results over an extensive array of roaming metrics.
  • Contribute to the development of the overall strategy of the roaming organization.
  • Provide oversight and financial support for the LTE in Rural America program to include: financial forecasting for customer counts, revenue and expense, roaming savings, ensure compliance with contractual term for lessees and Verizon, and ensure the LRA (LTE in Rural America) participant billing and settlement is properly handled and accounted for.
  • Work closely with Roamer Accounting on monthly accrual process and with our external auditors.
  • Manage a team of financial analysts which provides: Project Analysis, Program Management and Performance Management.
  • Lead a team of Roaming Settlement analysts responsible for: The financial settlement of Verizon’s 500+ roaming agreements.
  • Conduct regular meetings with various cross-functional leadership teams to discuss roaming needs.
  • Oversee the preparation of monthly reports and variance analysis for management review, participate in short and long range financial planning, forecasting and ad-hoc financial reports.
  • Strategically plan and measure the delivery of operating plans through written analysis, graphical illustration and identification of key variances; drive recommended required actions to close gaps or capitalize on favorable trends.
  • Lead strategic projects, identify key business and financial risks, and supports setting financial priorities within the Market.
  • Identify optimal venues and methodologies for effectively communicating business results to audience. Prepare presentations in support of quarterly senior leadership meetings and various strategic committees of the company. Conduct special financial and business related analysis for area/regional/market level operational reviews as necessary.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, or Business Administration or related field or four or more years of work experience
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with roaming operations, reporting, settlement process and systems.
  • Relevant financial analysis experience.

Even better if you have:

  • MBA or Master’s degree.
  • CPA, CFA, or CMA.
  • In depth knowledge of Verizon accounting and finance systems and applications (i.e., PMR, ZBB, Anaplan, Essbase, DW/Cube environment).
  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills – ability to organize, plan, and develop solutions to complex issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work and think independently, interpret and exercise professional judgment, and creatively problem solve.
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills – capability to accurately and creatively summarize analysis with relevant points for executive presentations and ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management.
  • Effective at building strong working relationships at all levels of the organization and across functional groups.
  • Advanced level Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and additional applications like Tableau and QlikViews.
  • Extensive analytical and modeling skills – ability to review roaming financial results and provide meaningful analysis, ability to proactively identify key business issues and drivers, and provide recommendations to improve results.
  • High degree of strategic and analytical capability, including the ability to analyze a large amount of data.
  • Strong strategic skills, with the ability to identify and assess key points, implications and recommendations.
  • Results oriented, strong sense of urgency, proactive and flexible.
