What you’ll be doing...

In this position, you will support Network Operations Center Services to Consortiums owned Submarine Cable Systems Networks, in a 24x365 rotating shift environment.

  • Remotely monitor and troubleshoot Network and Equipment alarms on fiber optic transmission and digital cross connect equipment and wiring as related to a submarine cable network.
  • Utilize various supervisory systems platforms applying fault isolation techniques and standard diagnostic procedures, to isolate and resolve equipment and circuit problem.
  • Be a main Point of Contact for the associated Terminal Parties, Capacity Owners, and Equipment Supplier(s).
  • Remotely provision new facilities and coordinate point-to-point pre-service testing with the involved parties in a timely manner.
  • Proficiently interact with multiple Telco/Technology Operators interfaces, departments and various employees with all levels of expertise.
  • Summarize and log the results/findings of each activity in related trouble ticket databases as well as reports when requested.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or one or more years of work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • Demonstrated, as it would apply to optical network transport and multiplexing, a working / in-depth knowledge of the Submarine Cable Systems industry and its associated key components such as: Power Feeding Equipment (PFE); Submarine Line Terminal Equipment (SLTE); Network Protection Elements’ (NPE) and their utmost current elements associated to optical coherent technology.
  • Experience with Submarine Network Equipment’s manufacturers include: Ciena, Alcatel-Lucent, Mitsubishi, Xtera, TE SubCom, Infinera, NEC and their related remote supervisory packages/Network Management System(s).
  • In-depth knowledge of the typical US domestic optical terrestrial transport and its associated key components.
  • Ability to work independently and proficiently interact with multiple departments and various employees with all levels of expertise.
  • Work experience in Telecommunication (Carriers/Equipment Suppliers), IT, Cloud Computing, possess good communication skills, excellent team playing skills.
  • Submarine Cable Landing Station, NOC, or Surveillance Center’s experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to be a dynamic, dependable, self-starter/self-motivated, innovative, and problem solver.
