What you’ll be doing...

Verizon is looking for an experienced candidate to join its Corporate Governance team in Basking Ridge, NJ. The person in this role will collaborate with team members to plan, organize and execute meetings of the Board of Directors and other events, and will provide administrative support to Directors and serve as a contact person for Verizon’s executive management team in connection with Board matters.

Job Summary:

  • Organize and execute meetings of the Board of Directors and Board Committees, including periodic offsite meetings, retreats and the annual shareholder meeting
  • Create meeting timelines, prepare and distribute meeting notifications and related correspondence
  • Coordinate with executives and internal Committee liaisons with respect to materials for Board and Committee meetings
  • Manage communications with Directors and their support staff with regard to meeting logistics and all other Board-related matters
  • Manage Board Portal for distribution of Board and Committee meeting materials as well as real-time communications from the executive team; maintain historical meeting information and governance materials
  • Monitor Board budget
  • Provide administrative support to Directors and former Directors with respect to compensation and tax matters, corporate concessions and benefit programs
  • Contribute to various team projects related to governance and Board administration
  • Manage up to three other team members in execution of the above
  • Flexible schedule and travel required during certain time periods

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelors Degree or four or more years of relevant work experience
  • At least 7 years of experience in project management and event planning

Even Better if you have:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain relationships
  • Previous exposure to working with senior executives and an understanding of protocols
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including grammar and proofreading skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple work streams and responsibilities and execute on a large volume of tasks in a timely manner with attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Capable of working independently and problem solving, under time pressure
  • Ability to collaborate with large, high functioning team and effectively manage other team members with respect and collegiality
  • Computer skills, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Purchasing and negotiating skills
