What you’ll be doing...

The Media Technology, Data & Analytics Director leads enterprise evolution and management across three areas (media technology, data-driven advertising and media analytics) within the Corporate Marketing organization and includes primary decision-making ability as well as guidance to digital agencies, Activation teams, Verizon Media Group and Business Unit marketing. Reporting to the Executive Director, Digital Marketing,and this executive will ensure that Verizon is poised to significantly advance the industry in the application of innovation and intelligence for marketing communications.

The ideal candidate will be well established as a driver of adoption for emerging digital media formats (with particular emphasis on programmatic, SEM, SEO, Paid Social, and content marketing), a master translator of outcomes into insights (analytical media reporting across consumer and B2B) and an operator in both the application and governance of data (media strategy, segment creation and management via DMP, data privacy, legal & IT partnerships). Our expectation is that the Director will be instrumental in building out the team that drives consistent application of the most sophisticated digital marketing strategies, oftentimes requiring influence and collaboration with Verizon teams outside of the Director’s immediate reports.

The Director also develops, maintains and monitors guidelines (view ability, fraud, currency measures, etc..) for all media touch points to ensure brand safety and compliance, cementing Verizon’s position as a prime advocate for digital media quality.

This role also works closely with other internal teams (Demand activation, social, search, integrated marketing, marketing effectiveness, consumer & marketplace insights, creative, privacy, Verizon Ventures and external platforms including key partners (i.e. FB, Adobe, Google, Epsilon, etc).

Media Data & Technology

  • Drives programmatic and data-informed media investment for the enterprise
  • Advances data-driven decisioning across all media types
  • Manages DMPs for individual Business Units and at the Enterprise level
  • Works with business unit sub teams (CRM, .com, etc.) to ensure data consistency and connectivity
  • Coordinate with VZ Marketing and BU Marketing Analytics team to analyze performance, monitors campaigns for improvements, ensuring campaign goals are being fully met
  • Responsible for governance over data sets, data partnerships, and data usage
  • Key lead for establishing guidelines for viewability, frequency and brand safety
  • Ensure multiple business units ad placement isn’t excessive across media site buys Ad
  • Verification and Compliance across display and video
  • Online Behavioral Advertising Opt out compliance (Ad Choices)

Media Analytics

  • Insight generation, model management, analytics and reporting
  • Performance Reporting (weekly, bi-weekly, quarterly)
  • Works with Marketing Effectiveness team to feed media reporting into marketing measurement models
  • Multi –Touch Attribution implementation. Understand all touch points that impact a sale online as well as influence offline sales
  • Introduce consistent / transparent media reporting and competitive reporting
  • Responsibilities include: tracking costs, estimates, invoices, etc.
  • Media billing & invoicing across all channels
  • Partnership investments manager works with Media Planning leads to negotiate corporate partnerships (Facebook, Google, Twitter) and with Sponsorships team to negotiate corporate sponsorships (NFL)
  • Tracking annual commitments with key partners
  • Serve as governance for media investments to roll up rates and expenditures across business lines and partners to maximize value

Enterprise Leadership

  • Define enterprise approach to data marketing applications & privacy compliance
  • Center of excellence for advertising technology
  • Primary liaison between Activation teams and Verizon Media Group
  • Develop and deploy audience targeting strategies across all campaigns
  • Negotiate contracts and maintain relationships with ad tech, data and top digital publishers
  • Represent Verizon in relevant conference, public speaking and press opportunities

What we’re looking for...

  • 10+ years of online / digital agency planning & buying experience spanning display, Paid Search, Digital Video, Paid Social, Streaming Audio, mobile, etc.
  • Proven track record of growing and leading a technically advanced team of media professionals

  • Knowledge of online resources (DART, comScore, @plan, Site Catalyst)
  • Knowledge in ad verification for display and video, Online Behavioral Advertising compliance (Ad Choices)
  • Ability to maintain accurate financial records
  • Ability to analyze data, monitor campaigns for improvements, ensure campaign goals are being fully met, and guide agencies
