What you’ll be doing...

Verizon Principle Network Architect in the ATG Advanced Technology Group. The principle network architect will provide overall engineering oversight of Advanced Technology Group products and services. This oversight will include intelligent networking and application enablement. The principle network Architect is expert in the developing traditional LAN WAN and WLAN architecture and is able to apply this knowledge to a customer's internet working environment for the development of software defined networking and network function virtualization product portfolio. They will be the point of contact and subject matter expert to the solutions architect for current and future technology deployment and adoption. The principle Network Architect utilizes sound engineering principles and industry best practices consistent with Verizon’s approved product set which allows the customer to rely on them for technical expertise in the design, implementation, and evolution of their architecture.

Subject matter expert with ability to mentor solution architects to drive excellence in solutions development, and lead opportunity closure through strategic engagement with cross-functional teams.

  • Identify opportunities for more effective technical support to field-based technical teams.
  • Proactively monitor projects and peer reviews to maximize sales results.
  • Interface directly with client and technical personnel at all levels as required to provide consistent, high quality technical support and to develop sales/service opportunities.
  • Accelerate strategic service solutions bundles.
  • Lead technology discussion in executive briefings and customer presentations.
  • Manage T&E to effectively balance virtual and in person travel needs.
  • Consistently share successes and expertise across the SA community.
  • Engage peer organizations to resolve customer issues.
  • Provide timely market information, drivers and customer feedback to our partner organizations for product and technology positioning and enhancements.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Six or more years of architecture experience in conceptualization, definition and development of IT and/or telecom based products and service.
  • Six or more years of experience delivering customer presentations and preparing customer-facing material such as RFP responses, proactive proposals and network/system designs.
  • Versed in TOGAF and/or ITIL standards for architecture and delivery.

Even better if you have:

  • MS/MBA degree or degree in a technical discipline or directly related equivalent experience.
  • Ten or more years of experience in a variety of disciplines related to the selling of IT and managed telecommunications solutions. Disciplines to include:
    • Data and IP Services
    • Managed Network Services / Security Solutions
    • Cloud & Virtualized Services including NFV and SDN
    • IT Applications Management / NetDev Ops
  • Seven or more years in a customer facing interaction with accountability for end to end delivery (i.e. Solutions Architect, Sales Engineer, Service Delivery Architect).
  • Strong financial analysis experience (P&L, ROI, cost analysis, business case development, etc.)
  • Current and valid industry certifications in one or more of the following preferred:
    • Hardware: Cisco/Viptela, Fortinet, Versa, Juniper, Palo Alto, Checkpoint, Riverbed
  • Cellular and WiFI Wireless Experience in WAN design and business continuity.
  • Fluent in software: Agile, Mulesoft, Application Anywhere, VMWare, Oracle, SQL, Active Directory, Docker, Puppet, Python, Ruby, Java, Perl, Unix, Linux Experience in sales or service.
  • Understanding of IT architecture design and development (TOGAF, ITIL, CCAr, DCUCD, MCSE Platform & Infrastructure, CITA-x, CISSP, CQS, or equivalent).
  • Experience with and strong understanding of complex network and data center/cloud infrastructures (CCNA, CCDP, CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent).
  • Proven experience with complex TDM/IP voice architecture, SIP, SBCs (Sonus/Oracle) and contact centre applications (Cisco, Avaya, Genesis, Nice), and load Balancers (F5, et al.) (CCNx Collaboration, Linux/Unix OS, SSCA SIP, Sonus and Oracle Implementation Specialist, Avaya CIS/CSS, MCSE Communication/Productivity, Active Directory, DNS/LDAP, or equivalent).
  • Understanding of IP-related protocols with emphasis on MPLS/BGP VPNs, BGP, OSPF, HTTP, HTTPS, SSL, SMTP, SNMP, DNS and FTP.
  • Application development and related skills; affinity/interest in MySQL, VB script and shell scripting, Artificial Intelligence, RPA, AGILE/SCRUM methodology, mobile development, or equivalent experience.
  • Interest in cloud-based applications, virtualization (MCSE P&I, AWS CSA/CDE, VMware CMA, or equivalent).
  • Interest for security issues concerning network infrastructure (CompTIA Security+, CISSP, SSCP, CRISC, or equivalent).
