What you’ll be doing...

This position is responsible for managing Verizon’s Marketing Academy. The Verizon Marketing Academy is a learning and development Center of Excellence designed to develop and grow world-class marketing talent with the 21st century skills that will help Verizon stay competitive and drive business growth. This position assesses company-wide marketing and learning & development needs to develop the overall strategic vision, drive training initiatives and identify and arrange suitable solutions. This position actively searches, creatively designs and implements effective methods to educate, enhance performance and recognize performance.

  • Conducts annual training and development needs assessment across all levels including senior leader.
  • Proposes training and development programs and objectives.
  • Understands how to apply training and development principles to support Marketing strategies and goals.
  • Directs curriculum build and design.
  • Obtains and/or develops effective training materials utilizing a variety of media, and sources.
  • Trains and coaches managers, supervisors and others involved in employee development efforts.
  • Develops and maintains organizational communications to ensure employees have knowledge of training and development events and resources.
  • Oversees vendor relationships.
  • Develops and monitors spending against the departmental budget.
  • Conducts follow-up studies of all completed training to evaluate and measure results.
  • Modifies programs as needed.

What we’re looking for...

A change agent, with a proven track record in developing transformation, enterprise-wide learning initiatives and strategic projects related to learning and development. (Ideal candidate will have developed training & development programs specifically for the Marketing discipline, with a core understanding of the 5P’s of Marketing).

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Understanding of Marketing principles and strategies.

Even better if you have:

  • BA/BS degree in Marketing, Training & Development, HR, or other related field; MBA/MS preferred
  • 7+ years of relevant work experience in the design, development of course materials and education programs.
  • B2B and consumer marketing experience.
  • Experience leading a team, representing a program with senior level stakeholders and navigating a matrixed organization.
  • Certifications in Learning and Performance (desired).
