What you’ll be doing...

You will be responsible for support related to the internal accounting functions at Verizon Capital Corp., which manages a portfolio of Leveraged Leases & Tax Credit Investments on behalf of VZ.

This position will cover all planning and management reporting functions (P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow), including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting and analysis. This opportunity will entail working closely with the Verizon Tax Dept. as well as VZ Corp. FP&A, as it relates to Verizon Capital.

Position Responsibilities include:

  • Prepare internal management financial reports and analyses
  • Leads the accounting for partnerships and works with external departments to facilitate the completion of the 50 annual partnership financial statements
  • Manage and update accounting models and for Section 42 Tax Credit Investments (“TCI”). Provide data for related journal entries; proposes adjustments as necessary. Also prepare internal control documents, and actively investigate reconciling items and proposes resolutions.
  • Involved in Corporate month-end close, financial reporting and coordinating with Lake Mary Accounting Staff as well as other Corporate Departments
  • Provide compliance support (Partnership K-1's; Quarterly FIN 18; Annual FIN #48; Valuation Allowance) and assist in IRS audits
  • Quantify potential and actual financial Impacts of asset dispositions in all product lines
  • Manage SOX control updates and testing for effective controls in the risk areas of deferred taxes and Leveraged Leases
  • Monitor Corporate cash inflows in coordination with VZ Treasury
  • Assist Corporate Tax on reconciliation of annual Federal Returns relative to the book provision
  • Coordination with Corporate Tax Department on compliance. Ensure TCI Portfolio compliance with IRS and State regulations
  • Support the Company’s compliance with the requirements of GAAP and VZ’s accounting policies.
  • Identify, lead, and deliver meaningful & measurable process improvements in the FP&A function and resolve issues related to financial reports.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience,
  • Financial experience in Financial Planning & Analysis and/or Accounting.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, MBA or CPA.
  • 6+ years of proven financial experience in Financial Planning & Analysis and/or Accounting.
  • Working knowledge of accounting systems and applications such as PeopleSoft Financials, Hyperion Financial Management, Blackline, & VGRC Sox 404 Compliance.
  • Working knowledge of partnership accounting & structures & K1s.
  • Knowledge of the Section 42 low income housing tax credit program.
  • Hands on analytical experience with focus on results and strong track record in setting and meeting targets.
  • Advanced analytical and financial modeling skills.
