What you’ll be doing...

Our Tax team is looking for problem-solvers and the analytically inclined to help a world-leader in technology invest strategically, allocate wisely and drive shareholder value. Your role will be pivotal in working with a 3rd party vendor to manage the accurate and timely filing of State and Local Sales & Use, Gross Receipts, State & Local Excise, PUC Levies, E911 and USF returns; refund opportunities and resolving tax disputes. You will play a critical role in reviewing and conducting analysis to streamline the tax processes to develop tax planning strategies to minimize company's cash flow and overall tax burden.   • Overseeing the analysis of financial data from accounts receivable, accounts payable, revenue accounting and corporate accounting.
  • Reviewing and managing the reconciliation of all tax liability accounts to the general ledgers.
  • Assisting the exemption group with the research and information needed for the issuance of resale and/or exemption certificates.
  • Providing support to the audit, research, tax technology, legal and tax exemption teams within tax.
  • Formulating process improvements to increase efficiency and cost saving strategies.
  • Managing and adhering to all SOX controls.
  • Assisting on systems development, mergers and acquisition projects.
  • Working with internal staff to procure refunds or credits from vendors or government agencies for overpaid taxes, including review of tax exemption issues.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in the state and local tax compliance.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and knowledge of Microsoft Access.

Even better if you have:

  • CPA certification or Master’s degree in taxation or equivalent work experience in the state, local tax and regulatory area.
  • Seven or more years of experience in the state and local tax compliance with an emphasis in state tax laws and regulations.
  • Thorough knowledge of state taxes, gross receipts, sales and use taxes, E911, PUC and USF and tax accounting.
  • Knowledge of compliance processes and returns filings.
  • Experience with large automated systems (i.e. billing, general ledger, and accounts payable).
  • Familiarity with automated tax systems. (Vertex, Taxware, etc.)
  • Experience with SAP, PeopleSoft or other major accounting systems.
  • Tax research and audit experience.
