What you’ll be doing...

Under limited to no supervision, the Sr. Analyst – Revenue Assurance is primarily responsible for monitoring usage records that fall out of the revenue stream and are therefore rendered un-billable. This includes identifying and explaining shifts in usage and correcting errors within VISION, Service Content Manager, Usage Broker/JiTR and any new rating engines. The overall objective is to identify, resolve and recycle errors to recover revenue. The Senior Analyst is responsible for meeting and adhering to all Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.

Exception Analysis for all postpaid usage records that fall to error:

  • Develop and run complex queries to determine root cause and quantify impact. This requires knowledge of SQL, Teradata, Microsoft Access, the Data Warehouse, MARS (Network’s Call Record repository), RAAT (Revenue Assurance Analytics Tool), REVO and other database tables.
  • Utilize critical thinking and decision-making skills to assess the fallout, determine materiality and prioritize the workload.
  • Review of weekly/bi-monthly/monthly wholesale roaming activities (VZW on VZW and VZW on Roaming Partners & vice versa) as well as ownership and resolution of correction activities, which may include communications with other wireless providers to troubleshoot potential rating errors.
  • General emphasis is placed on exception handling codes where the estimated revenue value is above $1,000 based on number of records and record type. From there, the Sr. Analyst - Revenue Assurance must independently determine where the greatest revenue impact is likely to be.
  • Errors related to reference data edits are generally corrected as quickly as possible regardless of volume. For these codes, the Senior Analyst will review adequate data, determine root cause and provide direction to the Reference data team or IT personnel.
  • Ability to think out of the box and analyze complex record structures, looking for commonalities.
  • Technical and business competency is required to understand comprehensive impact of issues identified and consider tangible processes that might have cause and effect, upstream and downstream.
  • Understanding of Financial and Accounting principles to troubleshooting and determine revenue accounting and partnership issues.
  • High sense of urgency and focus on Partnership issues, which are legally sensitive to the business.
  • Extensive knowledge of the technical aspects of the billing system, such as Reference data tables, VISION rating edits, UB/JiTR workflows, Unrateable logic, data filtering, etc.
  • Daily analysis and review of all postpaid usage records that fall to error from Vision, UB/JiTR and SCM.
  • Troubleshoot issues by taking into account surrounding conditions such as new IT code changes, new product launches, network migrations and Price plan changes.

Exception Processing & Issue Administration:

  • Recycle revenue impacting records swiftly to recover revenue on the next available bill cycle.
  • Analyze records to purge old or non-revenue-impacting usage. It is the responsibility of the Senior Analyst to make business decisions on purging records and then documenting for auditing purposes.
  • Purges are reviewed on a Monthly basis with the Manager as required by internal policy.
  • Issues must be tracked from beginning to end, ensuring a timely resolution to prevent future revenue risk.
  • For conditions that require IT intervention, the Senior Analyst will open trouble tickets as needed to engage all appropriate teams and drive issue resolution.
  • Communicate to upper management and impacted teams of all relevant issues.
  • Compilation of key statistics for the Monthly KPI Report and related Operations Reviews with Sr. Leaders related to Error Handling functions.
  • Apply critical and proactive thinking to continually work towards automating and streamlining the National Error Handling process wherever and whenever possible.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with all SOX related procedures for Error Handling processes.

Project Management:

  • Act as Subject Matter Expert in Rating and lead Exception Handling related projects involving Marketing, IT, Customer Care, Finance and Network. This includes actively participating in meetings with cross-functional teams, designing and implementing error handling process changes as needed and providing Revenue Assurance approval for overall implementation of the project
  • Sound project management skills such as project value assessment, resource allocation, time management and strong communication are essential.
  • The Senior Analyst – Revenue Assurance must be willing and able to work under time constraints to deliver results by critical deadlines.
  • Administrative: Proactively assist with compiling month end reporting and KPI results. Assist Manager with compiling Executive level presentations related as requested.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Relevant experience with VZW and Revenue Assurance.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including nights and weekends.

Even better if you have:

  • BS/BA degree or advanced degree in Finance, Economics or Computer Science.
  • Aptitude for analytical, quantitative, and proactive thinking; organizational abilities.
  • Ability to grasp the concepts of technical aspects of the design and functions of billing systems and usage transport systems.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with Customer Service, Marketing and Operations support organizations, Area Finance, and Network.
  • Demonstrated time management and prioritization skills.
  • Proficiency in desktop applications, including word processing and spreadsheet software; VZW internal billing systems knowledge preferred; able to learn and use other desktop or billing applications as necessary to perform job. Strong SQL knowledge.
  • Demonstrated wireless and telecommunications network knowledge for voice, roaming and data.
  • Strong knowledge of Vision/Usage Broker/JiTR voice, roaming and data rating systems, including all call flows and error handling processes.
  • Creativity and flexibility in managing multiple projects and issues simultaneously.
  • Understanding, process and effectively planning and executing in an environment that constantly changes.
  • Team oriented – proactively notifies others of direct/indirect issues that may impact their processes.
  • General knowledge of Billing RA processes.
  • Works well with others in a cross functional environment.
  • Creativity in problem mitigation and resolution.
  • Able to drive problems to closure.
  • Ability to anticipate issues based on analysis and experience.
  • Demonstrated collaboration with other work groups to solve complex issues.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Superior written, verbal and group communication skills, at every level of the organization including senior management.
